The Dutch striker is poised to rejoin former Anfield boss Rafa Benitez at the San Siro, ending his four year stay on Meryseyside.

Reports in Holland claim the 30-year-old forward could complete the move later today.

Kuyt was left out of Liverpool's Europa League game against Trabzonspor last night and now appears to have played his final game for the Reds.

Would be disappointed to be honest.
Thought maxi was really poor last night. Frustrated the hell out of me.
That goes against what i have said in the past about selling Kuyt as well.

Id be even more gutted Ben if we don't bring in anyone else to replace Dirk. Maxi's best days are well past him, that's not to say he can't play a part for us but he isn't the answer either.

I really hope if this is true then there is someone coming this way from Inter.

The lad who sends me the team reckons Kuyt is not going anywhere.
Doesnt mean this is for definite but the team is nearly always spot on.
He also said Inter have told us that they are not going to be signing Mascherano.
So we could end up with them both still being here at the start of the season.
Maybe that's why Aquilani could be on his way out.

Having acquired Mesut Ozil, the sixth signing of a busy summer for new coach Jose Mourinho, the Spanish giants are now trying to trim their squad, especially its bloated midfield, and claw some money back.

A list of top players was circulated among agents last week. It is headed by Lassana Diarra, Mahamadou Diarra and Fernando Gago. The fact that all three holding players are on Real’s books at the same is, in itself, staggering, and as good as they are there is a significant problem in the players’ contract. Lassana Diarra annually earns €4.5 million (£3.7 million or £71,000 a week) — net of tax — and the other two are on €5 million.

Manchester City would be an obvious option but having signed Yaya Toure and with Nigel de Jong, Patrick Vieira and Gareth Barry already at Eastlands, not even Roberto Mancini — who likes a holding midfielder, of course — could justify another arrival.

Other players are also available and the most intriguing could be Karim Benzema, the young French striker whom Manchester United had hoped to sign last summer after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. They were then outbid by Real but agents acting for the Spanish are trying to construct an ambitious deal. If either or both of the Diarras are sold, along with Gago, Real would then like to move for Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano.

A straight swap, therefore, with Benzema moving to Anfield and Mascherano — who is desperate to leave England and had hoped to move to Inter Milan although they are balking at the £25 million asking price — on his way to the Bernabeu? It’s an awful lot of ifs and buts and represents an unlikely sequence of events.

But Real are going to give it a go to move on some of their unwanted, high-earning stars. It may lead to a busy end to the transfer window — especially if Real also make one last attempt to move for a player they have tracked for some time, and who his club insist is going nowhere, and that’s Chelsea’s Ashley Cole.

City keep lap-dancing off the agenda

Manchester City may well be the richest club in the world — but they didn’t stay in the most expensive hotel in Timisoara, the industrial Romanian town, ahead of last night’s Europa League tie. Instead of the four-star Hotel Continental the City players resided at the distinctly more humble NH Hotel where rooms can be found for no more than €50.

The reason for the choice? It had nothing to do with finances. Instead, a fact-finding ‘recce’ to Romania a couple of weeks ago led to the discovery that the Continental might well indeed be the best hotel, but there was also a ‘lap-dancing bar’ in the basement. Inevitably this was deemed a possible distraction for the players and so the NH was booked.

Incidentally, on the flight to Romania, City manager Roberto Mancini was found in the economy seats. Again this wasn’t some act of humility. Instead the Italian, who swapped seats with one of City’s youth team players, is a nervous flier and apparently finds it easier if he’s not at the front of the aircraft.

Capello found it isn't always good to talk

It's good news that the League Managers Association is keen for its members to have a regular dialogue with Fabio Capello and bolster the England manager. But here’s a true story. A couple of years ago a young player — who Capello was desperate to bring into his senior squad but who needed first-team football — was afforded a Premier League start. He played well and Capello was delighted.

Capello telephoned the club’s manager — he does do that, by the way, contrary to claims – and, with a game scheduled that midweek, asked if the player in question was likely to keep his place. If so, then Capello would make the trip to watch him in action. Yes, he was told, such-and-such would play (I’d better not name the player or manager, although I know the identity of both; there’s no need for more friction).

Capello made the long journey and the player wasn’t even on the bench. Like every dialogue, it’s a two-way process. There needs to be a bit of give and take on both sides.

good idea bring him back as backup striker to nando we got no-one else so why not?

Quite frankly you could bring Sami back next season and it wouldnt make a difference, he's keen for it and he's accepted here.

You can see a pattern emerging of Woy, Sami, Carra and Dalglish for example creating a nucleus of long term management.

Skysports.com understands that Liverpool have made bid for PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen.

Sources in Holland believe that the Premier League Reds have tabled an offer in the region £9million to the current Eredivisie leaders.

The 24-year-old Sweden international has caught the eye of Roy Hodgson, as revealed by skysports.com earlier in the week, with the Liverpool manager looking to increase the attacking support for Fernando Torres.

However, Toivonen has refused to speculate over his future and it had been rumoured that Liverpool would reduce their interest if the forward was cup-tied in Europe.

He played in PSV's Europa League outing against Sibir Novosibirsk on Thursday, but Hodgson is still understood to have gone ahead with his bid.
