There are talented strikers out there who could replace him. They may not be as good as him, but they'd do the business and they wont be injured for half a season.

Dzeko
Luis Suarez
Benzema
Zlatan
Pazzini
Balloteli

Man City willing to buy 70m for him ...

Don't think he'd go there, unless they offered him like 200,000 pounds per week.

Man City have no problem with 200,000 per week ..... they have offer Kaka last season 250,000 per week ...

clear our debt, build our new stadium, then we'll talk

btw I work with a City fan who whole heartedly condones City's behaviour. There was also that other cocky t0sser on here as well at some point wasn't there? that club is really starting to p!ss me off

We all want him to stay, however if he leaves we must hold out for the best price. 70m? thats alot of money to replace him with probably get 3 world class players with the cash.

And you seriously think that Hodgson would get all of the £70m to spend?

Rafa's spending over six years with the players he bought and sold amounts to less than £10m a year on average and that is largely as a result of what has happened over the last two/three seasons. There was a time when Rafa was averaging £25m a year! If he had sold Torres just before he left then he would have actually spent nothing assuming that we got £60m for Torres and we would still have Babbel and Ingog!  :;):
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

If Torres was to go which I hope not.. his value would depend on the injury he's carrying..

That will be another questions : Will he get all the money from the sale of the players ....

I hope yes ... he will get 100% from all the sales ...

but with the :censored: owner like we have ... he rather take the money and pay to the bank ...

Even if you get 70 mil for Torres, who can you buy right now that will drop into the team and score lots of goals and want to play in a team that does not offer Champions league football?

I hope they can just sort out this "beef" that Torres has with the club and he stays.

I read today that we are in talk with Forlan as a back up if Torres is to leave. Forlan is available at 15 million pounds.

No no and no again. Why do people want an ex Manc who couldn't hack it in England when he was younger? If anything he will struggle again. World cup knee jerk reaction.

If it get ugly then Purslow needs to stonewall the lad and just say if you want to leave then tell then to fork out what we want. If the owners really want to sell the club then they will know how important it is we keep our best players.

Like you I regard Forlan as soiled goods but he is a vastly different player today than he was when he played for United. Could do a helluva lot worse with £15m. Not really a a knee jerk reaction. He has been exceptional in La Liga. I know it is a different league and all that but there are plenty of so-called quality strikers that have struggled in La Liga.

until a year or so ago players in the 'world class' bracket would go for around 25 to 30 million, apart from the odd crazy exception like zidane's transfer to real madrid. but now madrid have upped the ante again by paying 80 million for ronaldo and man city are happily spending 20 or 30 million on anybody they fancy, world class or not. if we were to sell torres for 70 million all we are doing is reinforcing the belief that genuinely classy players sell for well over 50 million now, and there is no way we are going to get more than one half decent replacement with the money we'd get to use out of the sale.

As each day goes by it's looking more and more likely that he's off :(

City are putting the pressure on again and the news that he has a ' beef '  with the club hasn't helped.

Fernando really needs to make his decision one way or the other , I love him to bits but really feel he now needs to say something.

Its all media bullsh*t, I getting board with it now.
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.
