Nice one! I'm made up with that pair of results, although both sides will have to raise their game significantly to survive the next round no matter which teams come out of Group D. Still, England live to fight another day and the Americans once again provide late game dramatics. Lovely. :cool:

Must say that was a much improved performance from the reds there. It's amazing how England look much more of a goal threat when a natural finisher is played upfront. In all honesty it should have been three or four nil and hence the reason the end of the match became a little tense. As much as I hate the bloke Terry made some fantastic last ditch tackles tonight, brilliant defending. Milner got better as the game went on I felt, he made a couple of poor decisions in the first twenty minutes but in the end did a good job.

One thing that grates me is the use of Gerrard because Lampard and Barry for me were average at best in the middle, sometimes Barry looks as though he has a spoon on the end of his foot and Lampard imo is pretty much being carried at times. Gerrard is Englands best midfielder and for that he's asked to play out on the left, it's a waste he could influence the game so much more than the likes of Lampard.

We're no WC winners, but it seems as though we've picked up not just an Italian coach but an Italian form guide, where we've started poorly and now it seems at the crucial time we're gaining (hopefully) some momentum. Hopefully this confidence booster will set us up for the next game in the comp, who I reckon will be Serbia.

anyone who doubts capello now is an absolute plonker. Ive never seen such passion from an england manager ever plus i still think we would of done even better with crouch. Rooney was still abit sh!ite anyone agree.

I think he faired better, his movement was much better tonight and found himself in better positions which I think was helped by playing alongside Defoe. It enables Rooney to wonder or go looking for the ball and to drop off deeper (in his more natural position imo) while Defoe holds his position as a striker. Alongside Heskey Rooney is a little more restricted in where he can move because he's the focal point. Heskey at times ends up at right back or center half leaving Rooney upfront to play with his back to goal. Because Defoe offers a genuine goal threat and doesn't have the urge to play fullback it allows Rooney that little more freedon, all in my opinion of course.

He's still over rated though

ye agree just thought crouch and defoe would of caused them more problems. Plus if germany draw and serbia win germany could go out anyone confirm that 4me

Yeah if Serbia win they will have 6pts and with a German draw Germany would be out as Ghana would have 5 to Germany's 4.
