Maradona criticised the former French star, along with Brazil legend Pele, following the reports had attacked his managerial style, but the Argentine coach showed a letter sent to him by Platini clarifying that he had not made such comments.

Maradona added: "I want to say sorry to Platini - but not to Pele." :rasp

And I want to say "Fu'ck off Maradonna, you fat coke snorting big mouthed cheating kunt"

"Pele should go back to the museum" ?

Maradonna may be the best player of his generation but for me he's a man completely devoid of class.

The man's a complete waste of space.

French international football for the first time in many a year is worse than English international football, I'm lovin' it.

The Irish must have been even more annoyed watching that last night. At least they would have brought passion to the World Cup. The French looked as if they didn't want to be there and it was blatantly obvious that not one of them wanted to play for the manager, who lets face it, makes Maradona look sane and should have been sacked 4 years ago. Absolute waste of a place in the World Cup if you ask me and yet unbelievably they can still qualify provided they hammer South Africa and the other game in the group isn't a draw (which would conveniently put them both through and France out).

Spot on St. Mike.  Gutted we aren't at the World Cup and that team of French pansies clearly didn't care either way last night.  Ireland would have put up a much better show than that lot.

On the upside I was delighted to see Thierry the volleyball player sitting on the bench with his face tripping him. :nod

IT DOESN'T get much worse than this.
The goalkeeper responsible for Spain's shock defeat against Swizterland in the teams' World Cup opening match was accosted by his 25-year-old girlfriend on live television and asked to explain himself.

Iker Casillas squirmed with embarrassment as his girlfriend, Spanish TV journalist Sara Carbonero, asked him immediately after Wednesday's game: "How did you muck that up?"

Spain are the favourites to win the World Cup and their 1-0 loss to a lowly ranked Swiss team has been the upset of the tournament.

Casillas was unable to look Carbonero in the eye as he tried to explain his mistake: "I don't know what to say. I don't know if this defeat will have consequences. The dressing room is fed up."

Spanish fans claim that Carbonero's sideline reports, just metres from where her boyfriend was manning goal, were also to blame for the defeat.

They say that Carbonero, who has been voted the world's sexiest journalist, distracted Casillas from making the crucial save.

Hundreds of postings on soccer websites said that Casillas had other things on his mind.

Carbonero dismissed the claims saying: "Can I destabilise the team? I think it is nonsense"

I think so what about you :D

How I wish I was a footballer, I can't even score in a brothel. :(

That aside, I am really looking forward to the matches on today, England should win as should the United States and Germany should beat Serbia which is bad because Serbia is in my team at my work sweepstakes. :(

They'll play safe.

If Domenech wants to know why France f'd up so badly he should find himself a mirror.

The referee in the Germany vs Serbia match is the worst referee I have ever seen, he is worse than Uriah Renee and Mike Riley combined.
