They would thump the prem team

I think it could make for an interesting match, but Johnson and Cole would have to restrict their forward runs, or else Messi will have a field day.

Oh, forgot about Ronaldo, maybe this will be one sided after all :D

10 Young Players to watch at this years World Cup

10) Angel Di Maria

Image

Angel Di Maria is an old school left winger who plays for Benfica and is guaranteed to start in that position for Argentina in the WC. He has bags of pace, trickery and has a wand of a left foot. Can score goals and creats tonnes of chances for his team mates. Liverpool fans will remember his excellent contribution in the recent Europa League tie against Benfica.

After excelling in the Under-20 World Cup and eclipsing Messi in the 2008 Olympics this is Di Maria's chance to impress a global audience.

9) Simon Kjaer

Image

Already rumoured to have grabbed the attention of Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs due to his performances for Palermo Simon Kjaer is ready to to bolster his already growing reputation at the world cup. He forms a strong central defence partnership with Daniel Agger and are a major reason why I believe Denmark are potential dark horses in the competition.

Kjaer is extremely good in the air in both boxes and reads the game extremely well. He has a reasonable amount of pace, but his major strengths are in the air and tackle. He has been compared in style to Rio Ferdinand.

One of the best young defenders in the world

8 ) Neven Subotic

Image

Another young centre back, Neven Subotic plays his club football in Germany for Borussia Dortmund and has forced his way into the Serbian starting eleven despite only being 21 years old. Has already been linked with Arsenal and Man City.

Subotic is very tall (1.93m) and very pacey. Is strong in the tackle and very good in the air. He is also very comfortable on the ball and has also been compared to Rio Ferdinand in that respect.

He features in a strong Serbian defence alongside Vidic and Ivanovic and if they perform well then Serbia will be a team to avoid.

7) Javier Hernandez

Image

Javier Hernandez is a 21 year old Mexican striker who has recently signed for Manchester United for around 7million pounds and is the hottest talent in Mexico. He plays for Chivas in Mexico and his scoring record is very good and has recently established himself in the Mexican starting eleven by scoring 4 goals in 4 appearances.

He is a pure striker in the sense that he scores most of his goals inside the area and is very good in the air despite not being the tallest of players. He has good pace and trickery.

A good World Cup would Javier announce himself to Man Utd fans and the rest of the Premier League

6) Keisuke Honda

Image

Keisuke Honda is a Japanesse international in the same mould as Nakamura and Nakata. He is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left. He is a very creative player with an eye for goal. He is also a dead ball specialist.

He has recently left Japan to sign for CSKA Moscow. Since joining CSKA he has been instrumental in the Champions League success of the club as he netted the winner vs Sevilla and also set up other goals.

He will have to shoulder most of the creative burden for Japan in the World Cup and in a relatively even Group E he really could be the difference between progression or an early exit for Japan.

5) Mesut Ozil

Image

Mesut Ozil is a 21 year old German playmaker who plays for Werder Bremen.

English fans will be well aware of the lad's potential after he was instrumental in the German under-21 victory over England in the recent under-21 European Championship final.

He was wonderful vision and a great passing range, along with a fair amount of pace and a cracking long range shot. This season he has filled the void in the Werder team left by the departure of Diego and is regarded as the best young talent in Germany.

He is a classic playmaker and is likely to be Germany's main creative weapon at the World Cup.

4) Milos Krasic
Image

Another player who currently plays for CSKA Moscow, although he after the World Cup he is likely to move to a more illustrious club in Europe.

He looks and plays alot like Pavel Nedvded in his pomp. He is very quick and has tremendous close control which gives him the rare ability to simple glide past his markers with minimal effort. He has great passing and finishing ability as well. Overall a sublime player. He demonstrated all these qualities in the CL against Manchester United.

Serbia are a team with a great defensive unit, however in Krasic they have a player who can make things happen at the other end of the pitch. If Krasic is on song, then Serbia will have a long way to go in the tournament.

3) Nicolas Lodeiro

Image

Nicolas Lodeiro is a classic South American playmaker from Uruguay who has recently been bought by Ajax in Holland after impressing in the Copa Libertadores for Nacional.

He has been compared to Lionel Messi, due to his size and technique, but in truth plays further back than Messi and is much more a number 10 then inside forward. He is another young player with excellent vision, ability to create goals, good from set pieces and very quick. He is also a very hardworking player who never shirks his defensive responsibilities. Lodeiro likes to roam all over the pitch in search of the ball and is a real creative hub.

He will be tasked to create the chances for Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez at the World Cup

2) Sotiris Ninis

Image

Sotiris Ninis is a 20 year old Greek international attacking midfielder who is vice-captain at Panathinaikos. Since making his Panathinaikos debut age 17 he has long been touted at the best talent to ever come out of Greece and has finally started being included in the Greek squad.

Ninis is a player characterised with pace, technique, dribbling ability but most of all superb vision, passing ability and long shots. The way he is comfortable in possession, always seems to have time on the ball and his ability to strike from range remind me of a young Paul Scholes. This season for Panathinaikos he has been tremendous and has struck up a great understanding with Djibril Cisse. His form is best encapsulated by his MOTM performance vs Roma in the Olympico where he simply tore them apart.

When given his chance at the WC it will be as a right winger, but I believe his future is as a central attacking midfielder.

1) Alexis Sanchez

Image

Alexis Sanzhez is a 21 year old right winger from Chile who has been praised as being the New Cristiano Ronaldo. He is one of the most exciting off-the-wall talents in world football. His pace and dribbling ability really set him apart from his peers and will make him a nightmare for any defender in the world football.

He is a short player with a low centre of gravity, which he uses to great effect when twisting and turning away from his markers. He also has a terrific shot which enables him to chip him with his fair amount of goals.

Chile are going to be one of the more exciting teams to watch this summer and the player most crucial for their game plan is the young Udinese winger.
