The great one, u have been speakin some of the most sh!t i have ever seen on this forum, to say heskey will be missed more than owen is pathetic, to say he was unselfish is nonsense and to say he didnt play well half the time cos of racial abuse is utter b0ll0cks, Heskey hasnt played well consistantly for 2 years and its not becos he was racially abused, its becos hes not good enough.

he was unselfish to have a striker for club and country being played out on the left wing and not to bitch and moan like some manc tw*t.

He worked like a trojan for the team and that was his undoing he was not selfish enough to take those chances that where given to him to go for goal himself he always looked to bring someone else in to take the shot. And i think after a time he lost all confidence in his shooting ability and so made more of an effort to be a supplier not a scorer.

but to the mater in question do we need Mista i think not as we have enough strikers really . Cisse , Baros, Garcia, Pongolle, Le tallac (although on loan) any more and you would have a problem keeping everyone happy.

what has become evident from Benitez's past is he likes to have a fairly settled side and not do squad rotations etc. He prefers a small squad that is very good than a larger more mediocre squad.

An excellent side scores for all corners of the park from many players. the old LFC side in the 70s and 80s did that and won many times.i am old enough to appreciate watching them at that time. Remember its a team effort not just a striker effort!

Also we should not sign anyone who would be grateful to further their career as pointed out bt live4pool. We dont want grateful, we want GOOD

Judge, I too followed Liverpool since the 70's. Needless to say the pace and the number of games played have increased. Porto didn't exactly have tough domestic oppositions and we cannot depend on luck and injury free season. We all know that having Cisse, Baro or Luis is not enough.

Mista is a pretty good player who has not extended his contract with Valencia. He is also thought to have an attitude problem. I guess if Benitez signs him, he knows what he is doing and will be able to motivate him

Given a choice, I doubt we want a Liverpool who plays like Mourinho's Porto - Score a goal and then "park a bus in front of the goal mouth". Painful memories of a certain GH.
I subscribe anytime to the new found adventurous approach by Benitez.

Agreed. The great Liverpool teams of the past werent built in a day. Like u said after more than a decade of nothing, the Liverpool fans have turned patience and perseverence into a fine art. I guess Benitez will be given time and will finally deliver. Cheers !

At least attempt to type better so your post is understandable.

So why is Josemi so good yet nobody but us were chasing him? Your theory doesn't work.

AB, you beat me to it. I was meaning to cite Gracia as a case where no one else went after him.

Mista Linked With Anfield Move
9/30/2004 3:51:00 PM
Last season's Liga top-scorer, Mista, has been linked to a move to Liverpool during the January transfer window.
The Valencia striker has been offered an extension by his club, however Mista has yet to sign. This has angered the management of Valencia who have issued an ultimatum that if by the end of October Mista hasn't signed the renewal, he would be sold to another club.

If the Mista deal goes through, he would be the third Spanish player, after Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia, to join the Reds along with coach Rafa Benitez.
