The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

Liverpool Football Club - The Players Lounge

My responses to Madrid are as follows...

Sources in Spain suggest Perez had hoped the player would agitate for a move to weaken Liverpool's bargaining position, but aside from admitting he is "flattered" by Real's interest, Alonso's refusal to do so has left the deal at a standstill, clearly frustrating his would-be employer.

Pity.  It must be very frustrating trying to sign a player with integrity.

"But the arrivals of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo have confused some people who obviously thought that, because we said we wanted more Spanish players, they could ask for fees which don't correspond to reality.

Ahh, you must be speaking about the old "reality" that existed before you turned the transfer market on its head.  Welcome to the new "reality," where Alonso is worth 30 million quid minimum.  You reap what you sow, you muppets.

"A year ago, certain players we have asked about would have cost less than half the price we are being quoted now.

Well I guess you should have signed him a year ago then. :p

There is nothing that justifies these prices. If necessary, we will find the Spanish players we would like for the squad in our youth system."

Bueno.  Good luck with that.

"We brought in a lot of players, our prime objectives, at the start and now we have the absurd number of 29 players in our squad, when we can only register 25 for the league," he said. "It has been more difficult than we expected encouraging players to look at other options. At this point, for a player to arrive, at least one would have to leave.

So, while you encourage players to act like c.unts before you sign them, you take the hump when they do so after they're on your books?  Reap...sow...yadda yadda yadda.

"There is a financial element to that, but it is mainly a technical one. We cannot have so many players who would not have chance to play. It has to be one in, one out for us at the moment."

Understood.  Pay us 28 million pounds for Alonso and we'll take Snejder, Negredo and Van Der Vaart off your hands.  Call it a favour.  Problem solved. :nod

Cheers, mate.  :D

Really, though, they are seriously extracting the Michael with these latest comments.  I know a large part of it is playing to their own supporters but the arrogance and sense of entitlement is simply staggering.  I know it doesn't exactly help our own preparations to have this situation rumble on but part of me is enjoying making them twunts by turns squirm and froth at the mouth.  The icing on the cake will be the closing of the transfer window with Alonso still in Liverpool colours and Rafa coming out and giving Madrid the 'game over' gesture.

now i think i hate RM even more than mancs.
RM's president said that they wont overpay for remaining targets after over paying on Ronaldo's and kaka's deal, so clubs can stop thinking about over charging them.

this statement is so bloody insulting and naive.
so suddenly it is our fault? and they expect ask to sell them our player of the yr on the cheap??
i think RM have a 5 yr old for a president, i really hope this kid trapped in an old sack drive his club into the ground.

I´ve got a real thing about taking this Snejder fellow seriously...... every time I read his name I remember that Hitler video after the CL 2005 final where he rants and raves that Meelan lost after being 3-0 up and at one point he goes 'Snejder'. Honest it makes me smile every time, if the lad comes to Anfield I can hear lads on the Kop saying his name ' Snejder' for fun and he'll have no idea why!

By the way, anyone got a link to that Hitler video, I cant find it anymore, its a classic.

An you remember that post Ciggy put up a few weeks ago from some lad on Rawk who been hes wedding ,well this is the latest he posted.

Just got in from work, so have been going over the thread. As some may know my friend is friends with his wife. She told me today that she spoke to Nagore (who is in San Sebastian) and she said Xabi is going to see her for 2 days. She didnt push much, and say what is he going to do, but she did say she got the vibe they were staying and Nagore was looking forward to coming back to England.

I ******* hope so. You know you can become a legend here Xabi.
