Why??

Because city don't have someone to dictate the play from midfield , ireland , barry , de jong aren't really the type of players with xabi's vision and creativity . Look at their squad dept , its better than arsenal's and deffo better than our subs bench

Hold up...so Barry's not as good as Alonso then?  :D

Has anyone said that Barry is better than Alonso? From what I have read of this thread most people thought that Barry would have been a good replacement, or would have brought perhaps more of an attacking quality to the midfield , I can't RECALL MANY SAYING BARRY WAS BETTER? Even before last season when Alonso hadn't been playing as well, few thought that Barry was better.(apart from maybe Rafa  :D )

My own view is that Barry is a lot better than a few on here think, that doesn't mean I think he is better than Alonso........ just a lot better than some are willing to credit him.

:D

I know, mate.  It was a joke based on the fact that the Barry/Alonso comparison generates such fireworks on here.  It wasn't a dig at those who think Barry would have been a good signing.

I thought I was going to be abused so I was just getting in my self defence first  :D

He' out of his depth in a team that are supposedly trying to break the top 4!

To be in the top 4 and stay there you need to be a very good team, one of the best in Europe...to be this you need one of the best managers in Europe!
Hughes is not that and I doubt ever will be!

Has anybody said Barry is cráp? Not that I thought I did, it's just that I'm trying to understand the fireworks this time.

For the record, I think Barry would have been a good signing.  The fact I consider "good" less than "top class" and I consider the two midfielders having an important difference of skill and quality (so evident that can be spotted almost inmediatly, no need to wait many games to judge), doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see what Barry provides in this team. Especially considering we've seen Lucas playing quite a lot of minutes these two seasons. Yeh, Barry would have made our squad better if none of the Mascherano-Alonso axis are out.

So excuse me if my poor english at some point said Barry is a shítty player, All I was doing is rating a local Liverpool player mucho higher than a (good) Villa player. I don't know other posters who rate Alonso a lot, but at least me, I regret we didn't sign Barry in the end. He could have helped more to win the league than what Keane did, and If I remember correctly, he didn't come just for a few millions. A mistake of Rafa/Parry IMHO, and it seems this year Barry didn't want to feel let down again.

Yeah quite a few have now! :D

It was almost a common feeling on here when Rafa was flirting with him last year and he showed interest he was a very good player(which he is)

Seems now though that since he chose City he is suddenly not all that great!
What he is,is a mercenary but he's still a very good player IMO even though he never made it to Anfield.

I reckon though that if Alonso stays and re produces his form of last year we will have the better player of the two!
I dont think theres much between the two at their best but Alonso nicks it....I reckon Rafa knows this but wanted Barry cause he can do a steady job in more positions than Alonso.
Rafa would love that...CM one week LM the next and LB the following..Barry is a rotators dream, players like that arouse Rafa it seems!  :D

No, but I took the píss on his prediction. He shrugged, and he said that he will tell me more in the next dinner with Alonso's dad. The fúcker wants a movement because both when Alonso reached RS 1st team and when he joined Liverpool, Xabi's dad paid a top notch dinner with his money.

Hughes is not that and I doubt ever will be!

He is not even in charge properly. Id say most of the transfers are probably 'requested' by the chariman.

Throwing so may good players at a manager like Hughes will never work!
He wont be able to run the team..all the players they are signing think they are gods gift....Too many egos mate!

The wheels wont even get on,never mind fall off until they have a manager that deserves and commands respect! :nod

How about if they told him he could have 10m a year for being the boss?
