Woke up at 5 with the b@stard flu Mick

The interview translated from a spaniard on another forum:
after the match by a Spanish radio and was asked a series of questions regarding the NT etc and the very last question was: "Xabi would you be disappointed if you're still at Liverpool next season?" to which he replied with a timid laugh and said " I can't, I can't answer that question for you -(pause)-but nah, nah, not at all"  then the interviewer said "You just did (laughs) but i won't press you on it" and Xabi just said "Very well" and it ended with the mandatory 'take care, see you later' exchange.

And then it was discussed by the journos that it's as close as an "I want to leave" as you're going to get from someone like Xabi who is very measured and quite smart in his speech.  They also said (which isn't the first time it's been said) that he and Rafa don't really get along since last year when Rafa wanted to sell him to then get Barry and also because of the whole issue about his wife giving birth and Rafa not being very happy about Xabi missing the game.

Losing Xabi cause of GazBaz is feckin criminal, Gazbaz couldnt lace alonso's boot I really dislike this fella. And Rafa's treatment of Alonso was unproffessional, saying that Alonso was poor for two seasons even though injured for long periods of time during them two seasons.

I think the two of them are off personally. But 45 million from Barca for Masch is feckin great buisness.

If we sign Villa no need for two holding midfielders ecspecially at home. No fecker will attack us anyway, like no one attacked the mancs with Rooney, Ronaldo & Tevez. That will all change now.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

At work I don't have at the computer. I'll translate it for you in the afternoon.

The cúnts at the SER always make him that kind of questions and yesteryear they asked him "You want to come to Atletico", and it's typical that Alonso laughs or mutters something. I wouldn't hurry to say the interpretation that is done below by someone of that being "I want to go".

Anyhow, I'll tell you this afternoon.

I didn't see or hear the interview, but that doesn't really sound like definitive evidence that he's leaving! (or that he's staying tbh) ???

Personally I think alonso is being "cagey" because he'll look a little stupid if he commits 100% publicly to lfc then finds himself at Madrid in 4 weeks time, having to say the same to the Real fans

His silence about this is not a good sign.

Then he should say: "I´m not going anywhere, I´m staying, let´s focus on the confederation cup".

Xabi Alonso: I Am Happy At Liverpool, But Who Knows What Will Happen
The midfielder has refused to commit to his future again...
20 Jun 2009 16:20:21

Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso answers questions from the press ahead of the

Xabi Alonso has admitted that he is happy at Liverpool, but added that no-one knows what could happen in the future.

The Spanish star has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, with Real Madrid believed to be chasing his signature.

However, in an interview with El Pais, Alonso explained that with Sami Hyypia already gone, he is one of the senior players at Liverpool.

"I am happy at Liverpool but in football you cannot close the doors on anything because you don't know what will happen. I do not plan to go. With Hyypia already gone, I am one of the senior players alongside [Jamie] Carragher and [Steven] Gerrard," he mused.

"[Four or five years ago] There was strong interest in me from Madrid, but Liverpool came and that is where I went. It was not a wrong decision, not for me anyway. I have played at Liverpool, a special club, grown as a player and won titles."

With regards to his relationship with manager Rafael Benitez, Alonso denied claims that he has a problem with the Liverpool boss.

"Each one has his own point of view. He is the manager and I try to do the best with what he tells me. We have a good professional relationship. We speak normally, saying what he wants from me and what I can give. He makes the decisions and we try to execute them," he mused.

Despite his remarks about his Liverpool future, however, Alonso did acknowledge that, at times, he has questioned his path.

"Last summer there was certain indecision and I did not know what was going to happen. I finished up playing well, though. I have had two quite complete seasons," he concluded.

No Xabi mate, the last half of the previous season you were a water carrier that had to be sold. The next season you have been a player worth 3 times your value. Don't deny what's undeniable. :D

In all seriousness it confirms what I know. Xabi is happy to be here, and the key of all this, is Rafa Benitez. Hope he does the right thing for the club.
