If theres no other damage and its just a flesh wound, surely you'd be looking at a month out at least for it to fully heal!
Not good news,Xabi has been a class act for us this season,we will miss him hugely.Theres simply no one near his class to come in and fill his boots! :(

Only pussies miss games because of a few stitches (depending on where they are) most just strap it up and play on. When I was young I used to regularly read of a player playing with his foot strapped up because of stitches.  Often the blood would be oozing out of his boot by the end of the game, but that never stopped him smashing the winning goal in from 30 yards.

If it didn't stop Roy of the Rovers , it shouldn't stop Alonso  :D

I hope you are right!
But its on his foot, one kick and it will open up again. Why could it not have been Babel instead? :D

Because Babel wouldn't go in for the challenge in the first place

Sadly that's a true statement  :(  :D

On Alonso he has been very very good this season, and I just hope it isn't anything serious with him, as it would be quite a blow for us to be without him for a longer period. Get well soon Xabi lad.

Not a month mate lol! if its only stiches its up to two weeks max, twice in my life I got stiches on my leg, one time it was 7 stiches, the other time was only 5, and it takes about two weeks to heal. If its only stiches, then he would propably miss the game next weekend and comes back after that.

Here is being hopeful.

Liverpool ace out for five months
Jan 4 2009

by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

Liverpool ace Xabi Alonso has been dealt a major blow with the news that his most recent foot injury, sustained during yesterday's FA cup tie against Preston, will leave him out of contention for the rest of the season.

The Liverpool midfielder limped off at half time following a collision with a Preston defender. Following tests at Melwood today it was established that the Spanish ace had sustained two broken metatarsals.

More to follow....

Someone on TLW thought it would be funny to post it. Someone else thought he would post it on RAWK (thinking it was true) Neither was me thankfully.

Another interesting stat...... Lucas makes twice as many successful tackles per game than Alonso.

It would be useful to edit that post and place the useful info about being a scam in the first line and highlighted.
