During that protracted saga with Chelsea, mick.... You (and I think a lot of us) were worried sick about losing Gerrard. It is only natural for that fear to be manifested in a "lets brace ourselves for that eventuality" response.

If we were offered 50 million quid today for Torres, I'd say "no" but would definitely think about it. If the same offer was made for Stevie.... it would be an unequivocal and emphatic NO! from me.

I'd rather be kicked in my gentlemen's vegetables.

The lads absoloutely, without a shadow of a doubt the best player ever to play for this club and if we ever see another player as good I'll be very suprised. He has everything in abundance and I can't believe the way some people take him for granted.

The main reason we're top of the league is Steven Gerrard. Its as simple as that. The lad hardly ever has a bad game.

Without him I am absoloutely sure, even with a fit Torres we'd be around about 4th or 5th, he really really is that good.

Even more impressive is that of the 3 games you have highlighted, in only one of them has he played in his favoured CM position. While his best performance (against Newcastle) he played with Masch and the previously suspect Lucas, and with KUYT as his strike partner.

I earlier this season admitted that I now consider Gerrard better than Souness, I still can't bear to admit to myself that he may also be better than Dalglish.

Dalglish was a fantastic player of that there's no doubt, but Gerrard could quite possibly be the best player in the World right now. I'm not sure even Kenny quite reached that level (though I know mnay will disagree). The wierd thing is with Gerrard, I can't help thinking that there is another level yet still to come once he realises that he is/can be/will be the best player in the World.

have to agree with all the Gerrard praise, he's been exceptional this season and has been the best player on the pitch in nearly everygame this season, absolute monster of a player. If he keeps up his current form it will be a straight fight out between him and Lionel Messi for the top individual awards next year.

What does Xavi's confidence got to do with us?
You mean Xabi?  :D

Is it with a B? i didn't know, in Spain Javier it's with V, Xavi is from Cataluña and it's with V, but our Xabi is from Pais Vasco (there is strange names there) so maybe you are right, well in fact you are right XD

sorry for my mistake

Yeah, people should drop the Xabi for best player of the season already.  He was for the beginning of the year I'll give him that but Gerrard has pulled away big time, he's having quite a season and I think he is just now hitting top form.  Last year we saw what he was capable of playing as a second striker and I think this season he has become even better at the role and is adapting to it extremely well.  I think he is in his absolute prime right now and will be for at least 3 more seasons.  I love watching the guy play and have always felt that there will never be another player like him again imo his style is really special and it sets him apart from everyone.

Xabi is a Crake, is excellent person and great player, imagine the level of the Spanish team, as a player if Alonso is in the dock.

I don´t know if Gerrard is the best player in the world (probably Messi is the closest to Maradona), but doubtlessly he is the most complete player I ever seen in my life. He can defend on the right wing and fullback, excellent tackle, good distribution and crosses, good header, shot, ect

Well I don't think they meant of all time, but he is argueably the best in the world at the moment I don't follow Messi too much but I know he's having a ridiculous season along with Eto'o but they're playing on a much stronger offensive team than Stevie.
