Robbie is LFC’s Euro #6
Thursday, 7th December 2006
Robbie Fowler moved up to #6 in the club’s all-time ranking of European goalscorers with his brace at Galatasaray on Tuesday evening, taking his tally in continental competition to fourteen goals.

Only three of these European strikes have come in the Champions League, with his only previous one back in August 2001, our opening goal in the 4-1 qualifying second leg defeat of Haka. His other European goals have been seven in the European Cup Winners’ Cup and four in the UEFA Cup, including one in the Final in Dortmund in 2001. Curiously, Fowler’s fourteen European goals have come against just eight different clubs as he has notched twice in a European game on three separate occasions, as well as in both legs of a tie twice.

Robbie leapfrogged both Jimmy Case and Emile Heskey, who have each notched thirteen times in Europe for the reds. Next in his sights is Terry McDermott, whose fifteen goals include twelve in the premier club competition, including one in the 1977 European Cup Final in Rome. He still has some way to go to catch his former striking partner Michael Owen who heads the list on 22 goals. Luis García is just outside the Top 10 already, with eleven European goals.

Jamie Carragher also moved up the all-time club records in Istanbul, as his 85th game in Europe took him to second in the ranking, just four games behind the legendary Ian Callaghan. Robbie is only two games outside the Top 20 in terms of games played, but is a massive 43 appearances behind the Bootle-born skipper on the night, due to being away from Anfield during most of our time in the Champions League.

Top 10 European goalscorers:
1. Michael Owen (22)
2. Ian Rush (20)
3. Steven Gerrard (18)
4. Roger Hunt (17)
5. Terry McDermott (15)
6. Robbie Fowler (14)
7= Jimmy Case (13)
7= Emile Heskey (13)
9= Kevin Keegan (12)
9= Ray Kennedy (12)

He scored the brace on the last day of the season VS Charlton to get us IN the Champions' League, then that French tw*t sold him because, and let's be fair to him, he was a clueless gimp.

Houllier the a*sehole robbed Robbie of his time with us.

He would be the top scorer in our history had he not been f*cked about.

To be honest, he hardly played for either Leeds or Man City because he was injured alot of the time.

To sell him for 11 million and then him to play about 30 games (due to injury) and then to get him back when his injuries had cleared for nothing was a bargain.
