Atalanta (3) Vs Liverpool (0) 18/04 Ko 20:00 2nd Leg EL

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Thu Apr 11, 2024 7:57 am

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says injured trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson and Diogo Jota are back in training but there is "no decision" about whether they will face Atalanta.

The Reds host the Serie A club in the Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday.

Out since February, the three players returned to training on Tuesday.

"That we need them is clear, but we need them in the best possible shape and to give them rhythm," said Klopp.

"It's always a challenge to reintegrate them but they are quality players so they will manage it. We will see over the next days and weeks, but as for tomorrow there's no decision yet."

League is still priority so we should and probably will mix it up. Unlike the previois opponents we faced in this competition though Atalanta are no muggs, they are probably a Spurs level team or thereabouts, and although they're not in great form, they're still capable of putting up a good fight.

It's good news that we have a few returning but would be against starting them tonight tbh. Give them a few minutes towards the end.

I haven't watched Italian football in a long time and I honestly don't know what to expect from them. I do think the prem is miles ahead in nearly every dept though so hopefully this game gets put to bed tonight.

I posted this in the last game thread but will post it again here.

It's a lottery for Europa final tickets. Go down to tickets , Then how do I apply. You will see the portal there. You will need to create an account and they will want your passport number but its legit.

Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas come into defence at Anfield, while there are also returns to the line-up for Harvey Elliott, Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones.

The Reds’ bench is bolstered by the presence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stefan Bajcetic and Diogo Jota.

Liverpool: Kelleher, Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Konate, Nunez, Mac Allister, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas.

Subs: Adrian, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Salah, Jota, Robertson, Gravenberch, Clark, Bajcetic, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Bradley.

I've seen some worse benches in my my time...  Bajcetic in the squad is a very pleasant and unexpected surprise!

Laid back FC have turned up again tonight. We look half asleep this first half. Nunez should have rounded the keeper, awful finish again by him.

Should be 3-0 down here. Tsmikas has been dreadful, out of position everytime they attack. I like Harvey but he's nowhere near quick enough to play in the front 3.

Love Jurgen but that starting line up was a bit disrespectful to Atalanta who are clearly a half decent side, they could and maybe should have scored 3 or 4 goals that half. They knocked our future manager out the last round and if we don’t get our @rses into gear soon they’ll knock our current manager out too. Changes please.

Nunez finishing is unbelievably poor. We need Jota on.

Well that's 2-0 and deserved. We've not turned up at all tonight.

Joe Gomez has had a really good season but he's looks like his old clumsy self tonight. Every attack 2nd half is coming from his side and he's just casually jogging around.
