He tackles him from the side wins the ball and then catches him with his left leg.  He puts his right foot in front of Harvey to hook the ball out of his path and rolls off him and that's when his trailing leg catches him.  He never tackled from behind, it was from the side.

Its irrelevant whether he went in from the side or behind, he went in with both feet off the ground, his left foot may have connected with the ball but he went through Elliot. Red card all day that.

For real Boo ?  of course it matters if you go in from the side or behind and it was his right foot that connected with the ball not his left.

Ok the other left foot

Didn’t think it was a red card at the time and still don’t even after reading various views on the matter. Interestingly Elliot himself has stated that he did not feel that the foul was malicious and didn’t deserve a red card.

It's irrelevant if it was malicious or not. Intent was removed from the rule a long time ago.

"Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play."

Red card was upheld and rightly so, despite what the injured player says.
