Liverpool's 12th championship

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby rse » Sun Jun 20, 2004 9:04 pm

I was flicking through some old cassette tapes and I found a Radio Merseyside broadcast commentary of the last few minutes of Liverpool v Aston Villa from May 1980.

It was the last game of the season and the 4-1 victory meant that Liverpool lifted their 12th Championship trophy.  It was also their 4th Championship out of 5.  The commentary also describes the scenes after the victory as Phil Thompson lifts the trophy and shows it to the Kop.

Anyway, I put it onto the computer and uploaded it to my website so if anybody fancies a bit of nostalgia you can download it for free if you follow the link below.  Its only 2.12 megabyte so it wont take long to download.

If you make some sort of reply to the thread it will stay up somewhere near the top so more people may be able to hear it.

Lets not forget that David Johnson scored twice that day.  Hope he makes a full recovery from his recent heart problems.
