I think either Riise or Hyypia as the best signings with Hamann closely following. Worst would be Cheyrou and Diao.

Diouf was the worst by a mile.
Hyypia has to be the best!

Really? That doesn't explain why Milan and Juventus were trying to sign him.

Hyypia, Hamann and Riise were the best, in that order.
Worst is obvious: Diouf, though Diao and Cheyrou should get a mention.

Diouf, Heskey, Song, Diao, Diomede are the worst.

Hyypia, Henchoz, Riise, Hamman are the best signings we've had.

I'd like to have seen more of: Diomede and Titi Camara, the latter being one of my favorites before he wnet off the boil at LFC.

Did Rogobert Song, Titi Camara and Sander "Butterfingers" Westerveldt really comanded those transfer fees?

So shocking to me because I must have forgotten as I remembered the transfer fees for Diouf, Diao, Smicer, Cheyrou, Zige. Biscan, Barmby, Heskey and Kirkland. I must have been so numb by the dire football at the end of his reign that I have even forgotten that they (the above trio) did indeed played for us sometime during Houllier's reign.

Is that a complete list? I remotely remember a South African born naturalised German striker called Sean Dundee.

Best of the lot are Hyppia, Hamann and Riise. The rest are either average, forgettable/mediocre or just plain cr@p. Coundn't really pinpoint who's the worst because a lot of them are utterly equally useless.

i think Dundee was an evans signing mate, he signed in june 1998 and i think houllier came in july 1998 to partner up with evans

Value for money has to be big Sami as best, then Didi and then Riise
Finnian proved last year he been worth the money and considering what we paid for him  Dimi is also  probably in the same boat.
Despite his detractors and i one of them, Milan Baros has done enough for his transfer fee and his current transfer value to be considered a good signing
Henchonz was a good servant  and probably because  of triple season i always had a soft spot for Sander.

Worst for me would be Diouff not just his failure on pitch  but his attitude

I dont agree that Biscan was our worse signing among that pile of mostly sh!te!! No way!
Id say Cheyrou,Diao and Kewell were all worse signings than him.
Especially that winging, wimp Kewell,at least Biscan tried for us,I have a lot of respect for Igor Biscan,he might not be the most gifted of players, but every time he played he gave his all and a real nice genuine fella he is to!!

shocking isn't it when you look at the sum spend and we did not improve much and even worse when most of these players moved on we can't even recover a fraction of what we spend.

man the lost possibilities...what rafa would have done with a fraction of that sum.:(

Hyypia and Hamman the best... by a long shot

Diouff and Heskey the worst, mostly because of the cost of their transfers
