Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Reg » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:27 am

Even BBC world reported excessive violence by the rozzers including 'beating people lying on their backs on the ground'.

Nice little scandle in the making........

From tomorrow's 'Times'

"Eighteen United followers were injured in clashes with Roma’s fanatical “Ultras” outside the stadium, local agencies reported, and one was taken to hospital in a serious condition with a knife wound to the neck. However, some of the worst scenes took place inside the ground as the security forces appeared to overreact to the rival groups throwing missiles.

Police with batons and riot shields charged into the section containing United supporters in an echo of their treatment of England fans in the same area of the same stadium during a qualifying match for the 1998 World Cup. Uefa immediately announced that it will launch an investigation. William Gaillard, the communications director, who was in the stadium, said: “I only saw glimpses of what went on, I saw some missiles flying and the police charging. We will be waiting for the delegate’s report and the control and disciplinary body will be looking at the television images to see the dynamics of what actually happened.”

United’s away match in the previous round of the Champions League, against Lille at the Félix-Bollaert Stadium in Lens, was marred when riot police fired teargas at their supporters. “We will also have to see what role Manchester United fans had in the incidents because they had some problems in Lens earlier this year,” Gaillard said. Roma could face disciplinary action if they are judged to have failed in their security arrangements.

The Independent Manchester United Supporters’ Association is compiling a dossier to submit to Uefa and has asked supporters to submit statements and pictures of the incidents. “The club issued warnings to our fans making it clear that they thought that there was danger of attack from the Roma fans,” the group said last night. “The Italian police were stationed on our side of the fence, in attack formation against United fans, in a way that only made sense if they were trying to protect the Roma fans from us. There is something very wrong here and we aim to get to the bottom of it.”

A United fan in the ground described the scenes to BBC Radio 5 Live. “At the time of the sending-off there were missiles exchanged and after the \ Roma goal their fans charged the United section,” he said. “The police got involved with a baton charge and all hell broke loose. You had seats being thrown at the police. Most of the missiles being thrown are bottles which are being sold inside the ground.”

Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, would not discuss the trouble."

They should ban all Italian clubs until they get their act together.

Stadiums suck, policing sucks, the fans are violent idiots, the game is corrupt.

What concerns me matey is they are trying to do the exact opposite - UK clubs get all the money, UK clubs are beginning to dominate europe again - they want US out so they can continue to run their little corrupt thiefdoms.....  Worrying as hell.

Furthermore next week at Old Trafford and before/after the game... the press will out number the fans waitng for juicy pictures. Tell you, we're in trouble and I hope to god Man Utd see off Roma 'cos if we meet them in Athens... well, you dont have to be a genius to see how very wrong it could become.

We're at a bit of a cross roads here and UEFA, the FA and Man Utd need to work bloody hard and bloody quick to stamp this out. Sod the wops, they wont take any measures as they have failed to do time and time again.

Rafa

We don't need to give UEFA any reason to ban English clubs just when we are getting back on top again.....

I haven't considered that possibility, to be honest.

I'll try to put this as straight as Lando would put it.

--SHÍT-O-METER--

Italy: ***********************************
Spain:*****************
England:****

And the 4 asterisks are due to Everton, Manure, Chavski mainly.

Any neutral observer that watches those 3 footballs will reckon inmediatly that England has sorted out our their shít in the last years to an acceptable level.

In Spain and Italy, there are minoritary fascists groups that since they don't get enough votes to make it to the parliament they use football stands so that their cráp is known, they get attention of the TV, the newspaperes, and unfortunately tonight, this forum.

This must be fixed inmediatly by both clubs and authorities.

So if anyone is going to be punnished, I wouldn't consider for a second that being the English Football. My point is that even the United fans created trouble punnishing a country must be seen as a whole, not especific twáts of a certain team.

I'd rather talk about how Valencia has put into trouble to the rent boys at Shítford bridge, I haven't seen the game because I've been out and I'm downloading it (Sorry Dawson) for watching it tomorrow.

One last note, the police was probably brutal aswell, they usually are here in the south, more twáts, more repression, and that becomes a standard. It seems that the United fans payed for it, well, better them than LFC fans.

Well Vlaenica got a good away goal and i think they'll go through and we'll beat them.
Roma in the final against us imo,not as most of u predicted but i think it will.
Next round will be:

Bayern-Roma
Liverpool-Valencia

Final :

I've heard some absolute horror stories about football fans and Italian police over the years.

Absolute worst was my former flatmate's ex-fiance, an Arsenal fan, who got caught up in some trouble right at the end of the 90s over in Italy.

Completely placid guy, who by all accounts did absolutely nothing wrong on the night. He and friends were in a group that got charged by riot police out there, and then got absolutely pummelled with batons, initially while on their feet cowering, but still the blows rained in when they were doubled up on the floor. This all happened because someone separate from the group threw a bottle, and so suddenly anyone English was set upon by the police.

That's by no means the worst of it though. 6 of them including the guy in question got carted off to cells, for what they assumed was an overnight stay. They were kept locked up in a communal pen for a fortnight, fed only every other day, and were beaten constantly while in custody.

Most shockingly of all, all of them were b*ggered with batons at least once daily by the cops, and then beaten all over again.

The embassy eventually got involved to get them brought home, but they had an absolute hell of a time while it all went on. This would have been an enormous story and a huge political incident, were it not for the fact that all the lads involved were genuinely humiliated and broken by their experiences. It all got "resolved" quietly, and they simply don't talk about it now.

Apparently this guy was a sound, strutting, arrogant jack-the-lad before all this happened. I got to know him months after it happened, and the poor guy was an absolute mess, and the complete polar opposite as a result of his experiences out there. His relationship fell to bits and now nearly 8 years on he's still in a bad way.

I'd like to think something comes of this latest incident in Roma. There is overwhelming video evidence that the police were needlessly violent, and this kind of thing simply needs to stop. If these f*ckers are doing this ON CAMERA, it doesn't bear thinking about what they're getting up to when they get their mitts on another half dozen lads in a dark room.

Thats a shocking story Ivor  :no  absolutely disgusting.

I cannot see how that is allowed to carry on in this day and age (even if they are Mancs) its caveman like. The Italians should of been banned from European competitions a long time ago, the incident with the coin throwing at the ref, match fixing and corruption, pockets of fascist fans. And now the police are wading in like something out of a wild west movie. Obviously someone at UEFA is pulling the plonker of the powers to be, and its all brushed under the carpet.

If that had happened over hell all hell would of broken loose and we as a nation would of been banned for 5 years.

The Italians must have an inferiority complex, thats why there police act this way I reckon their still redfaced over WW2 and the fact their tanks have only one gear and we all know what that is.

I think Chelsea are in trouble. Valencia are capable of doing them at their stadium.

Got a feeling the Mancs will beat Roma at Old Trafford though.

Agreed. Once he's gone, it's over. Same with Fergie.

i think the sh*te will turn roma over at old trafford unfortunately. however i'm confident valencia will dump chelsea out on their @rses at the mestalla, and we will go on to beat the spaniards and reach the final. as for who we'll meet in athens i really wouldn't like to place any bets - it's between milan, man utd & bayern and i think they've all got as good a chance as eachother of reaching athens. for calmness i hope it's bayern but i'd love another final against milan. a final against the sh*te is just unthinkable, 100,000 or so liverpool & man utd fans on the ale in greece with the ultimate prize at stake? that's just un police-able  :wwww

They should have been banned for the trouble in Lille a month ago. Now trouble again occured.

I'd say ban the F*Ckers.
But I guess the Mancs bring too much rocks to the UEFA to get banned.
My club got banned from UEFA cup for less !!!
But I guess Dutch teams are not so profitable to them
