Who has to go!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby red till i die!! » Wed May 12, 2010 3:20 pm

we already have a thread discussing who we would like to see arriving in the summer,so in order to accommodate new players we will have to get rid of some.
we have a lot of under achievers on our books and imo some who just dont have what it takes to make it.below is the 09/10 squad to chose from.
reina.
itanje.
cavaleiri.
hansen.
gulacsi.
bouzanis.

carragher.
skyrtel.
agger.
kyrgiakos.
johnson.
aurelio.
insua.
ayala.
kelly.
degen.
irwin.

gerrard.
aqualani.
masch.
lucas.
plessis.
riera.
benayoun.
rodriguez.

torres.
kuyt.
babel.
ngog.
pacheco.
el zhar.
nemeth.

a lot of these players havent been used much, if at all.some play out of their natural position and theres a few thats here too long without making an impact.
confirmed arrivals so far include a striker(jovanovich) gk(mihajlov) and a def(threlfall).

personally i would like to see at least 8 leave this year and they are. itanje,el zhar, plessis, degen, aurelio, kuyt, babel, ngog and lucas.
so who would you have make way for new blood??.

(h+g and rafa arent included in this thread for the obvious reason being they arent players so please leave them in their respective threads.)

itanje - thought he'd gone already to be honest after his hillsborough memorial antics
degen - don't see the point of him when rafa would rather play carra or masch at right back if johnson is out. kelly look sgood enough to understudy as well
either skrtel or zorba - if these new CB is coming in and he's as good as they say he is
plessis - he's really not going to get any games and probably isn't good enough anyway
riera - i'd prefer him to stay but seeing as he has burnt his bridges with rafa he needs to be off the wage bill
ngog - just needs to n go
el zhar - doesn't get the chances and doesn't take them when he does
babel - but only if we get a good price and only if we spend all of the money on somone better than him

which means i would keep kuyt and lucas. crazy i know but they aren't even a tenth as bad as people like to make out and we need some quality in the second string.

Do what West Ham have done, put them all up for sale bar
Gerrard
Torres
Carra
Agger
Masch
Reina
+ promising youngsters

As long as Rafa stays you will not see Kuyt and Lucas go and tbh i`m not sure we should get rid of them

Totally agree.

If Kuyt and Lucas is guaranteed to get the f*ck out then Rafa can pack his bags.

The love for Lucas on rawk is sickening ffs. Have they been watching a different player than me this season.

A half fit Aqualiani is making Lucas look poor.

Firstly, IMO you cannot include any of the following in any clear-out sales -

Hansen
Gulacsi
Bouzanis
Ayala
Kelly
Irwin
Plessis
Pacheco
Nemeth

They are not first team regulars. If they haven't been given a chance you can hardly judge them as failed.

As for the rest you have to separate into sell/keep categories. What ever is left you bargain like hell over.

'skrtel or zorba' :    Thats a hard call, isnt it?

Zorba has I guess 1-2 more seasons as at first team level, yet Martin seems to have diappeared off the map.

Y´know, at the end of the day I'd probably keep The Greek and sell Martin to Wolves or someone like that..  I think he's peaked.

well some people seem to think a new manager will win us the league with the current crop...interesting...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

- Cavalieri
- Aquilani (if we can get our money back I would take it)
- Riera (only because of his comments in the media a few months back)
- Aurelio (if he doesn't accept a one year extension on reduced terms let him leave)
- Babel (just needs to go ASAP and if we can get anything close to 10 million we should take it)
- Lucas
- Spearing
- Degen
- Plessis
- Nemeth
- Itandje
- El Zhar
- Darby
- Skrtel (he wont develop beyond his current level and selling him will raise funds for a better centre back)

I would probably add Kuyt to this list, as this might be the last chance we have to get "real " money for him. He's not getting any younger and after the World cup we may even get a little more for him.

Lucas would be a toss of the coin decision for me, unless someone was willing to pay £10million when the decision would easy  :D
