i'm sure i heard last week that spurs were sniffing around malbranque and preparing to make a bid. if that is true then we should be out of the blocks like a shot. surely the lure of champions league football would be too much for the guy to turn down. he'll score you 10-12 goals a season and will create endless others.

Spurs can't buy anyone. They tried to sign Andy Ried from Forest yesterday. The had a £5million bid turned down in january so they went back yesterday with a £3million bid. Are they retarded or what.

Spurs just have nothing to offer a player.

he's one of the few old fashioned wingers around who likes to go past his full-back on the outside, get to the byline and then whip the ball in. the words "big fish in a small pond" come to mind but if the guy has england aspirations then one of the big boys will have to snap him up sooner or later.

Has anybody actually seen LFC bank balance? I'm forevr hearing "We haven't got that sort of money" how the hell do we know? all that has been said is that"it's the quality not how much" And iam fed up to my skin of people always complimenting players in chelsea and every body elses bloody team.

Why can we not just wish the beat for LFC? Beni quoted that we have scouts all over the world and if quality becomes available then we will by them, now does that sound broke to you..

Maybe LFC have more sence than to spend money like water when there are players yet to be recognised with the same amount of talent as a player for 17m.

Keep the faith LFC can still attract the right players no question, but huge amounts of money does not mean quality..

I think that we could afford a few 'expensive' players, I think that the board has explained to Beni about the money GH wasted and that they can't afford to keep wasting money, from my knowledge of Beni he doesn't waste money on flashy players but like to but 'no nonsense' players that will do the job but don't carry baggage like a player of Beckhams stature

I fully expect Benitez to sign some quality players but not necessarily with a big price tag. His knowledge of Spanish players wil mean we will have top trust his initail signings. this new centre back/right back is no mug. He's played most of last seasons games for malaga in a tough league and I believe he wil prove excellent value for money.

To be fair to Houlier he spent wisely on Rise, Hyppia, Kewell, Le Tellac and Pongolle. Where Gh went wrong in the transfer market was the summer of 2002 when he wasted £20 milion on Cheyrou, Diouf and Diao

I don't think Benitez should be made to pay for GH's  poor financial acquisitions but maybe he will have learned during his time at Valencia who after all are not a rich club to spot a bargain when he sees one....
