And a footballer doing that doesn't need a rest unless he plays 2 games in a week for several weeks. My take is that he was fustrated. He was fustrated about not getting protected. He was fustrated about the rough treatments. He was fustrated that he was being isolated upfront. It seems like ever since he had this cosecutive scoring, streak defenders are all out to fustrate him just like bob said. And in order for him to take the next step to greatness he needs to know how to handle that. he seems to get fustrated easily when things don't go his way... and i think that that is his major weakness. I've seen that kinda body language on him a couple times now. Remember in one game (I forgot who it was against ) he was so angry that he went straight to the tunnel without shaking any hands at the end of the game. Then in the man U game and now with arsenal he showed his fustrations again. I might be wrong but shades of the aspect of torres that I don't like might be creeping up again... which is getting disappointed too easily and letting it affect his game... I've seen it during an england-spain friendly years ago... he was so red-faced and fustrated that the england defenders gave him the rough treatment that raul had to console him...

I wonder what Sabre thinks about this... I haven't really watched torres ins Spain so don't really know his attitude track record...  :p

edited: either that or he wasn't feeling too well... or he had a major argument with his girl... now that can affect everything you do...  :D

I remember that game and that face yes. Some guys just  have more tendency to be red faced at some kind of weather or situations. I certainly didn't like Torres' attitude when he came to Anoeta, things like watching his team mates work and him walking, and the like. I disliked that just as I like the attitude I've seen so far. I didn't expect such a change.

In the past he did lost the temper on more than one occasion when things went wrong in a match. I remember he was sent off  in 2006 after telling the ref several times "you have no shame", which is quite insulting in our culture . I also remember another sending off for elbowing Josemi in 2004.

I think that the situation of the team and atmosphere didn't help that much to his stability. The atmosphere of Liverpool FC seems  to have been what the lad needed to boost his career, which wasn't growing, but keeping steady.

Some mates have mentioned somewhere else that some crowd say now Torres protests more than he used to do at the start of the season. That's probably right, and a sign Torres is a clever guy

I think that when you are a player in top league, players have reputations and status in the pitch. We like it or not some players are allowed to tell more things to a ref only because they're important. Your reputation also means you can be marked heavily aswell by the opposition teams. Torres has earned that respect in this league, if you see what I mean.

So Torres just uses that reputation on the benefit of the team, and since he can protest more now (at the start of the season he would have been told who are you?) he'll do it to press the ref in our benefit. Torres adapted well when he came, and is adapting well as his reputation grows.

Torres interview in English before Arsenal game.  He's a fast learner.

Be fair, Ronaldo has a lie on the grass quite a lot of the game, and he stands still gesticulating when decisions don't go his way, so he gets plenty of rest DURING the game.

Is it just me or does Torres look like he dyed his hair a kind of light reddish brown?

That's his natural color. It's brown. Not blond.

I thought he looked tired last night tbh, but his goal was sensational, lit up the game and made me knock me drink all over the floor  :D

I think its fair to say that nobody realised he would be THAT good, well in Rafa for getting him.

If Liverpool manage to win the Champions League, do you, like me, think Fernando Torres would be the odds-on favourite to win the prestigous World Footballer Of The Year Award?

Ronaldo, is the other obvious candidate.... however.....

Nando has had to adapt to a new league, which Ronaldo has been playing in for a while now. El Nino has still managed over 30 goals (hasn't yet, but is only 1 away) and has shown to the world who he is, and that he's here with a purpose.

He's got my money on him. Yours?

Ronaldo is the more high profile darling of the moment, maybe Torres will get it next year.

Ronaldo will win it, unfortantly. Torres will be runner up
