Yes
If the manager plays the strongest team in the best attacking formation with positive tactics.
Playing to your strengths can have a great effect on results

This

:nod

wrong, if Torres goes and we get no replacement we = screwed

Nearly everyone has recognised that one of last season's main casuses was Rafa's failure to buy an established back up for Torres. To suggest that we could cope with selling him and not buying a decent replacement is nothing short of madness IMO
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Er,..i guess the question was can we still finish higher than 7 if we keep Torres and Stevie (without signing new decent players).. take a risk on tactics and how we play, not taking risk on selling both of them.

It almost implies that Rafa hasn't been picking either player.

Hmmm... Someone's been at the gin again...

It implies nothing.
It states quite clearly that Rafa fu'cked up royally through his team selections, tactics and formations last season.

its hardly surprising that there are so many stories about him moving. as far as strikers go he's about the hottest property there is at the moment and there's an easy story for every football journalist out there. just link a rich club with the best striker. easy.

plus, of course, all these rich clubs do actually desperately want him.

I know that Andy mate but it makes me sick, everytime you turn the telly on its one of our players being linked with another club,

We should call in the UN to stop us being invaded because thats what it feels like , people are trying to pillage our club,

bavlondon wrote:Which is why if he does end up going the deal should be a player plus cash deal. At least that way we can guarantee to get in someone of reasonable quality whom we probably wouldn't be able to buy outright anyway.

If it's Inter then Balotelli - he looks to be on his way out of Italy anyway

If it's Barca then either Bojan or Ya-Ya Toure.

Don't even want to think about if it's City or Chelsea as as firmly believe he would not play for any other English side.

Above all that though I hope what Nan posted a few posts up is true. We need to bear 1 thing in mind though, even if Torres and Stevie stay then it wont make any difference unless we bring in more talent around them. We will under perform next season and it will be that much harder to keep them.

I'm not a fan of Balotelli because his attitude is atrocious. If Inter wanted Torres, I'd demand £40m plus Wesley Sneijder or Cambiasso. (I'm probably being too optimistic that either one of those will want to sign for Liverpool).

If it was Barcelona, I'd want £30m plus Yaya Toure and Maxwell.

If Barcelona wanted Mascherano as well, I'd ask for £5m plus Bojan. (Again, I'm playing fantasy football).

I agree, so Rafa will have to work wonders in the transfer market and without any transfer budget and over-inflation of players in the transfer market that will be a very tall order and one I don't think Rafa can succeed in.

Skysports is no different from any other news channel, people thrive on drama and bad news and the Liverpool saga is so tragic that it makes sense for news corporations to swoop down on the carcass like a pack of hungry vultures. We're a badly damaged club and to be honest, I read on Skysports that Gerrard will contemplate his future after the World Cup, when players give off such ambiguous statements, don't be surprised when the media have a field day with it.

This is Torres' new look. Even the hair is turning red, so he won't leave.
