Squad against wrexham - Who should we put out?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby chiggz_likes_owen » Sun Jul 11, 2004 8:04 am

This should be the obvious one providing what we've got now anyway

            Dudek

Riise    Hyypia  Carra    Finnan

Kewell Gerrard Hamann Diouf

          Owen Cisse

1. The sad thing is that even Baros proved the sh*t outa himself at euro hes not gonna get a starting place. I'd love to see him play but u get the feeling its not gonna happen.

2. I put Carra a centreback to partner Hoops cause I think hes currently better at the back against Birmingham, Iceland etc..played well..

3. Sorry.. can Finnan play RB, is that his position or is it LB? I think in RB

What do u guys think...anyone disagree?

apart from the fact you have every player in the wrong position and the fact that most of the international players will have had about 5 days training i think you are totally off your head. :)

Finnan is a right back, you put him on the left
???

Riise a left back, you put him on the right...

Hyypia has nearly always played on the left hand side of the two centre halfs...

Kewell is a left winger not a right winger...

Diouf isn't good enough to start and isn't a winger either...

???

I just hope the reserves ( Welsh,Semi etc ) get a chance to prove themselves also in pre-season under Benitez! With all due respect to Houllier these guys must have been given a new lease of life when they heard he had gone! Lets hope Rafa  gives them a run!

I doubt we'll see many big names in that game.

More than likely u might get Hamann, Hyypia and Baros but i think thats about it.

i agree, Wrexham isn't exactly an intimidating opponent.  If I were manager (which I'm not) I would put out this side

             Kirkland (if fit)

  Finnan  Carra Hyypia  Risse

   Murphy Gerrard Kewell

Diouff (hell, its better than playing him on the wing!)

           Baros Cisse

Bench: Pongalle, Hamman, Owen, Henchoz, le Tallec

I've left Owen on the bench because you don't feel the need for him to play against wrexham and it allows you to give others a run up front (baros).  I'd try to get all the players on for a run during the match.

I dont rate Finnan wat so ever, i dont believe i have watched a worse full back for a while, he doesnt know how to take nor cross the ball, i witnessed about 5 good crosses all season at anfield from him, i dispise him so much, he doesnt deserve to play 4 us as far as im concered.

As for upfront Cisse and Diouf id play, Owen and Baros have just played in a major tournament so a rest is due, Cisse needs to play and Diouf needs to prove a point.
He comes from Spain and he doesn't speak good English,
But we don't care cos he'll turn us into winners,
The European Cup will be ours before he's finished,
Raaaaafaa Benitez!

I don't think any players involved in Euro 2004 will play a part, which rules out quite a few. Carra will probably play as he obviously didn't get a game, and I'd like to see him get a run alongside Sami. I have a feeling Biscan will get a run out, although I suppose it will be a novelty to see what he can do in midfield (my guess is that he'll boot anybody that tries to pass him, much like he did in defence).

Which means...

                 Kirkland

Finnan    Hyypia   Carragher   Riise

Murphy  Le Tallec  Biscan     Kewell

            Cisse      Diouf

Probably a bit too ambitious for a friendly though, that. Unless I've missed something and they're out on loan, Ostemobor, Welsh, Vignal, Mellor and Pongolle should get a game.
