In my opinion, soccer needs to be cleaned up

Something needs to be done about cynical challanges, cynical handballs (as an attacker or defender), dives, players surrounding the ref and swearing (like after the Reina incident).
Introducing a  "sin bin" (for those that are not familiar with the rugby term it mean that when you get a yellow card, you spend 10mins off the field) would clean up soccer and turn it into the game that it is sopossed to be.
I would not want to take away the strategy behind getting a yellow card to stop a serious goal threat before it happens. Even with a 10 minute sin bin, player would still do this, but at least then they are penalised. Too often i see the better team lose, and people say "well hey, thats football", well its not, the art known as football has been tainted.

To me getting a yellow card and having the possibility of missing a few games if you get several over a stretch of a season is bullsh!t. The FA should premote a zero tolerance system and allow no dirty play, and i think that nothing will change until yellow cards become more significant and actually play a part in a game.

Refs are spineless, everything`s there to help them and the game as it is, they just don`t/won`t use the tools they have.

Q. (to the linesman) Did he smack that player to the floor ?
A. (to the ref) No he touched him and he dropped, lots of players touched other players (oo-err) - I saw it, book the actor, book the keeper for the challenge (which I know u wouldn`t do if he was an outfield player).

Act alone, don`t take thier time and allow themselves to be swayed by 6 players in thier faces.

U book a player or 2 that runs into u`r face mouthing off, and similarly u`r collegues do it too and u`ll find em all shut the hell up.

I seen the linesman mouthed off @ plenty of times yesterday and he took it like a whimp.

And what does this reinforce to other players in the league and teach to players that look up to them.
It teaches them that it is ok to do these things as long as you only get a yellow card, bullsh!t, it should be zero tolerance 10mins in the bin. Players would still argue but maybe they would be a little more tactful than running after the ref invading his space with their hands in his face saying that he is blind......

Well I dunno, if after 20mins of a game I give a freekick and 4 players are in my face, mouthing off etc - I book all 4.

That`s another 70mins u can`t afford to get booked in.

I think it`d be pretty effective. Particularly if they keep it up in subsequent games and find themselves serving a ban for accumilation.

No need to americanise football with sin bins. The remedy is consistent refereeing with common sense

pro refs is the only way foward. to still have part time refs is a joke in a multi million pound industry

there has to  be something done to help refs from cheats. rugby dosn't have the same problems and i am not a rugby fan in any shape or form, but that is a far more phyical game that is simple ref'd better and supported by tv replays.

my point is. they have better refs who controll the game and don't fall for the oldest tricks all the time and they have better back up for tricky discisions which hasn't spoilt the game for it's fans.

Yes agreed, football is rubbish, we need sin bins introduced, we need video refs for all decisions especially goal line refs, we need to dull the game down as much as possible. We need to take the contoversy out of the game and ruin it, we need to make it so as the small teams can't get a last minute penalty away away at old trafford wrongly given and go on to win 1-0.

We must make adjusments to this awful game and rubbish rules, why not allow all players to hand ball the ball inside the 18 yard box, infact lets scrap the centre circle and put markers down every few yards...

Wonderfull ideas by true football fans.

its like that budweiser advert.

i think we need stronger referees like those who just push away players who arent involved in the incident and deal with the ones involved, that for me is proper refereeing, being influenced by idiots like john terry is embarrassing.

i thought the linesman had a bit of authority nowadays if seems as though they just ' :censored: themselves, reinas tackle was quite good, i dont think it was a yellow, i like the way the linesman missed the handball only seconds before the incident

thats why i dont want the video technology to ever be introduced becuase for me, that is part and parcel of football, the controversy, the dubious decisions, and sometimes you get them, sometimes you dont.  i was watching channel 5 last night cos i couldnt sleep and the yanks were playing american football, and it is so stop start, its unbelievable, 'hi-fiving' one another when they only ran 20 yards and then been tackled, :censored: joke it is.  rather than sinbins, thr manager should call the player over and have a little word in his ear which for me is just as effective
i f**king love leon mc, what a lad

Well said.

However you are wrong about Reina's tackle. In football you are not allowed by the rules of the game to make a tackle from behind. From the side is fine, from infront is fine but from behind is dangerous. Its against the rules and Reina, as much as i like the lad and support him was deservedly booked for that incident.

Yeah Reina did scissor tackle him from behind. No quarms really. I don't mind technology being introduced as long as its unintrusive. No need for a 'third umpire/referee' situation but some type of goal line technology would be advantageous.

A while back they we're talking of having a system where if the ball crossed the line the referee would be notified via a buzzer on his arm, similar to the linesman flag system. The ball would be fitted with a sensor, the decision would be instant.

no your right we should go back to being able to push keepers into the goal and upend people.

mr chumly warner football , long shorts and a pint at half time them were the days!!!!!!

times have changed. i'm not asking for time outs or 4 quarters
i would just like the best refs possible which would surely be better if they professional.

and video replays of in the box decisions wouldn't ruin the game or slow it down any more than robben rolling round like he had been nutted or 10 players round the ref scum style would it
