NO way that would just ruin the game. the game is fine now and i enjoy watching it without people being sent off for ten minutes just for a yellow card. it should jus be left as it is :D

That`s another 70mins u can`t afford to get booked in.

I think it`d be pretty effective. Particularly if they keep it up in subsequent games and find themselves serving a ban for accumilation.

I'm with you mate.  Any talking back or swearing to the ref, any touching of the ref, anyone who does leave as soon as the ref tells them to :censored: off, anyone who rolls around on the ground in agony, and then gets up and takes the free kick, should get a card.  That'll settle them down.  I hate seeing the ref walking backwards before a crowd of complaining players.  I wish they'd stand their ground and start dishing out the cards if they didn't get the respect they deserve.

A bunch of bloody overpaid prima donnas sure as hell should pay more respect to refs who give up their own time just because they love the game.

We need to take the contoversy out of the game and ruin it, we need to make it so as the small teams can't get a last minute penalty away away at old trafford wrongly given and go on to win 1-0.

We must make adjusments to this awful game and rubbish rules, why not allow all players to hand ball the ball inside the 18 yard box, infact lets scrap the centre circle and put markers down every few yards...

Wonderfull ideas by true football fans.

In fairness i did not suggest that there should be goal-line refs or a video ref. All i suggested was that a yellow card is too lenient, a red card is too harsh and i guess a sin bin would be an improvement.
How would this take the controversy away from football??
How would this stop a small team from getting a last minute penalty??

refs are idiots, nothing is gonna change that. look at teh gooners game on saturday, how was lemon still on the pitch after all that?

there should be harsh fines and bans for diving and faking for one thing, and all that shouting at the ref still needs to be sorted after all that time

but sin bins wouldnt work, it would ruin the game

I dont think that the sin bin would impact that heavily on the game, I believe that the only thing it would change is cynical borderline behaviour that player know they cant get a red card for...

I dont mind people disagreeing with me (i expected it)
I never for one second thourght that it would be introduced but I find it funny how almost everyone defends football and says that it would ruin the game. I dont see how it could, i see how video refs could ruin the game but how could sin bins??

Lets say for example you have a striker through on goal, he goes around the defender and as he's about to shoot he slips... the ref believes its a dive and he's put in the "sin-bin", then from the resulting free kick the team aren't able to pressure the ball as they'd like down to the fact they're wrongly down to 10 men for 5 minutes or whatever it is...

The conceed a goal... then end up another goal down... with two goals in 5 minutes down to the fact they're down to ten men.

No sorry. Not having that.

Footballs fine as it is. Bookings, yellow cards, warnings. It should be down to judgement of the referee and thats final.

^ yes i see some example that it could have a negative effect such as this.
But honestly how often this happen? how often does a ref wrongly believe that someone dived?
I believe that more often than not the sin bin would act as a deterant...
Think of things that it could stop...... Some "soft" red cards (such as reina's push to the face of Robben) could fall under the category of a yellow card with a 5min sin bin.
Sometimes you see strikers attempting to handle the ball in the box, i remember seeing Harewood (i think) trying attempting one a few weeks ago where the ref spotted it and gave him a yellow card. A goal then could have subsequently won the game and he was going to get let off on a yellow card. A red card would be too harsh but i think that if a ref had the option of a 5 or 10min sin bin players would think twice...

I guess this arguement will never really get anywhere, the best and only solution that will follow is stronger refereeing. But I still think that it is a good idea....... :p
