Serious concerns re the manager

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Ace1983 » Mon Aug 30, 2004 12:19 pm

Not only is Sami hyypia the best defender at Liverpool by a long way, but he is also an experienced, level headed player. THe loss that was suffered after his injury was not just a loss of skill, but a huge psychological blow for the team and the manager. I've been lobying for a new striker for a long time, but I think might be changing my mind if Hyypia is out for more than one game.

I agree with what you also say but the concern again is in his comments, healthy debate makes for a healthy forum and too much censorship only prevents this.

You are badly confuzed ...maaan.. You are questioning the ability of the Man who has out thought and tactically beaten REal and BArca...

I would suggest u listen to his pre and post match thoughts and analysis.. he is no fantasist.. rather a realist.. some of that on this form wouldn't go a miss :glare:

Think before posting ... Benitez is the man ... he'll turn it around and when he does I hope u start the thread saluting him  ???

agreed

Thanks for the comments and I only hope you guys are right.

Is it not possible for managers to be out of their dwepth, similar to players who sumtimes promise so much but we never see it but leave and then start to perform again eg Anelka.

I hope the majority are right in this case and as for Addicted Norwegian I thought your comments were very lucid until the last sentence which is similar to "going out in white pants (70s style) with a big skiddy down the back of them" its just ruins the look of em.

I guess you guys then have written off the season and ignored how we have played in our last 2 games. If Arsenal where not such a force I would be as relaxed as you guys/girls.

I seriously, seriously do not understand the validity of this thread.(No offence!). I mean Rafa has been in the job for five minutes, added several new players, and most importantly has to change not just the style of the play but the MENTALITY of most of the players who have had their creativity sapped by GH. This been ongoing for5 years, so how in your right you could question Rafa's ability to turn things around so early in the season, and especially after he had beaten Barca, Real, Depor etc to the Spansh title twice in three years is beyond belief(Not to mention he won the Uefa cup and had Valencia playing in the latter stages of Europe every season!). This is seriously unsettling as this is very important period in LFC's history and nothing but full backing is required from all fans to help make th journey back to the top a slightly easier one. It may take another year or two to get there, but your post suggests that you have expected it to happen overnight which, I personally think, is a severe mis-judgement.
Be positive.
Keep the faith, and things will improve - but some attitudes will invariably have to change too.

oh for crying out loud, what a stupid thread.

the fact of the matter is if we had won 1-0 yesterday nobody would have cared about benitez tactics.

the most successful managers are the ones who have been given the most time, e.g. ferguson, wenger. we have played 3 games and already people are questioning the manager. get a grip. benitez will get it right.

St Michael, Redrider and others

The fact of the matter is we didn't win against lowely Bolt on.

I think you should read the first posting all its suggesting is serious concerns about what he has alleged to have said. The post does not say get rid, or sack him. I can understand you guys/girls wanting to stay in your comfort zones but that doesn't necessarily detract from the valdity of whats being said.

Don't forget Hitler convinced a whole country that he was right.

What rubbish, Hitler most certainly did not convince a nation he was right he manipulated a sence of frustration and desperation amongst the Germans who were suffering severe socio/economic problems after WW1. He was able to tap into this to further his aims as depicted in Mein Kemph. There were plenty of others who disagreed with Hitler but for those he ruled with fear and intimidation.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

I think its right to criticize if we play poorly, no matter how long the management and players have been there. Yesterdays display was not acceptable. I doubt that Benitez thought it was either. It was a self admission he had screwed up when he changed it second half. And the players didnt get their game going either. Lets hope they learn as they go and we get back on track next game  :Oo:

Just read the papers and they are also revelling in the fact that we seem in dissaray :

"on this evidence they will (Liverpool) be limping back to port with a broken mast as well as shattered title dreams long before xmas".

So  (s)ignore at yer peril.

My name is red

As for the germans, virtually the whole country was mesmorised by Hitler otherwise why didn't they stop him. The point I'm trying to make is that we have to look past the nice guy image and measure performance in the cool light of day and not be influenced by previous performance after all he maybe a manager that doesnt travel well. I just hope you guys are right but I think the papers are more inclined to my veiw at present than your "loyal" view.

If we are honest the league was never a serious consideration this season. It would have taken a miracle for Benitez to sort out Houlliers mess so quickly.Top four is the most we can expect and hopefully a decent run in europe. Now is not the time to pass judgement on the boss.
