Preview and prediction of liv v leverkusen 2nd leg

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Liverpool v Leverkusen

The 3-1 first leg victory granted Liverpool the driving seat but all's not over yet after Dudek's late fumble, allowing Leverkusen the precious away goal. Memories of the 2002 CL Quarter Finals 2nd leg are still vivid as both teams prepare to book their place in this season's CL quarter finals.

Liverpool's inspirational caption Steven Gerrard is expected to be back after being suspended for the 1st leg while ineglible players in Fernando Morientes and Mauricio Pellegrino would continue watching on the stands. The trio, Harry Kewell, Dietmar Hamann, and Jerzy Dudek would all be expected to feature after being absent in the Newcastle game due to minor injuries. Djimi Traore, who missed the Newcastle game as well, would still be a major doubt. Long term doubts Xabi Alonso, Djibril Cisse, Sinama Pongolle, and Neil Mellor would all not feature.

Leverkusen, however, continues their injury woes as Brazilian International Juan picked up yet another sustaining injury. He joins Jens Nowotny and Roque Junior in the injury list while Paul Freier and Robson Ponte joins them in the stands after picking up suspensions on the first leg. Marko Babic did not feature in the 1st leg tie due to injury but is expected to return for the 2nd leg.

It looks all set to be an intruiging affair. Neutral fans no doubt be hoping for a repeat of 2002's game between Liverpool and Leverkusen in the CL Quarter Finals.

Prediction: 1-1 Garcia 35', Berbatov 66'
Aggregate: 4-2 Liverpool go through

i was upbeat after the first leg but i reckon our confidence is shot at the moment. if they get an early goal i think we will fall apart at the seams. it looks like its going to be one up front again so hang on to your seats this could be a long 90 minutes.

Fair point Jack66, an early goal from Leverkusen would really put the pressure on , they only need a 2-0 to go through and our goal scoring seems to have dried up a bit .
I'm thinking 2-1 Leverkusen.

Positive news from LFC.tv:

Bayer Leverkusen will be without Brazilian defender Juan for the Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
Juan was forced to pull out of his side's 1-0 defeat to Hamburg at the weekend with an ankle injury which will sideline him for two weeks.

It means Leverkusen, who trail 3-1 after the first leg at Anfield, will be without five regulars for the return game with Juan joining the injured Jens Nowotny and Roque Junior along with suspended duo Robson Ponte and Paul Freier on the sidelines.

We'll go through.

Wont be an open game like at anfield.

Anything from 0-0 to 0-1 to 1-1 I reckon.

But we'll progress
