Anyone know why Mascherano isnt even on the bench? Was Argentina playing during the last week?

He played the full ninety mins against Australia in Australia and only arrived back Friday so I can understand him not playing

My guess is that he's probably being rested (rotated? same word in Rafa-ish) or picked up a knock. Could be for the CL game in a few days. Or jetlag.

i agree with people saying we should go full pelt in this one, but i can also understand the changes, torres was injured mid week also.

i know the league is priority, but at the same time pompey have won once all season and the team we have out should be more than enough to turn them over

Kuyt not even on the bench either....it was Crouch out the squad last match...I can it being regular for one of Crouch, Kuy and Voronin to not even make the 16 in the league....still, it's the depth we have needed to compete and while we're top who's gonna moan?

anyway voronin is playing, hatrick for him today i think. kuyt isnt playing so there should be less wasted chances and the crowd behind the goal will not have to wear safety hats today

I don't agree with this team selection - this is rotation just for the sake of it

I thought we established the league was the priority this season. Why is Torres not playing? What about Babel? Sissoko and Alonso is our weakest midfield combination - surely Stevie should start if Mascherano is just back from Oz? Crouch can start the champions league matches to keep him happy.

We should have our strongest side out today.
