There will be a time, most likely after the city game.  Since our lineup must be similar to what we just used.  I think maybe Rafa was trying to ease into a crazy formation since half our players are banned for that match.

Let's hope Rafa has a couple more "Get out of Jail Free" cards and that was not his last one.
Very positive first 15 minutes although Rafa's selection's took another step towards the bizzare.
Was impressed with Fabio playing in midfield. Once again N'gog and Babel were poor. The subs made the difference Kuyt was quaility, Torres put the fear of god into them.
Three points and Top of the league.
Going to look for some bubbles for tomorrow afternoon.

Well, definately a case of never mind the quality - feel the width!! Took too much to break down a very ordinary Portsmouth side, but hey - we're top if only for tonite. With the russkis only gettin a draw (against a team many pundits say ended our title challenge.....) it aint been a bad afternoon all things considered. Anythin less than a win will almost certainly end any goonies challenge, as slim as that challenge already is. I aint too confident WH can do us a favor but then you never really know.

One thing that surprises me (or pi.sses me off, you decide) is our reluctance to shoot from distance. I mean...come on.... Jamesy aint exactly Mr Safe Hands is he? A good low shot, keeper spills it and at least one player runnin in for the rebound......

I was actually quite happy for alot of the first half..... we had good spells even if we never actually threatened to destroy them, but all to no avail. I took a few positives from the game too..... maybe Gerrard shouldnt be takin every dead ball situation once he's back fit. We don't actually do a helluva lot with corners and set piece free kicks if they aint jus hit from afar. Aurellio seems far more effective in his MF role and used the ball well from frees and corners. Not sayin SG shouldnt take ANY but that maybe there's a better option occasionally.

Interestin subs.... Kuyt on ahead of both Xabi an Nando. And nobody surely can run Kuyt down for his performance today. No doubt in my mind all 3 had a massive effect on the game, jus a shame it had to be that way.

I'm seein a depressin likeness with Babel to Milan Baros. Head down, run and try to beat 15 defenders. Maybe thats a trait of tryin too hard. Maybe its jus he aint as good as he thinks he is. Dunno, but its damn annoyin. Lost count of the times I swore at the telly, I'd have been ejected I reckon if I'd been at the game!! As it is i think the neighbours knew my opinion.

Ngog...... Jus not sure where he's headin. I'd hate to see us destroy the guys confidence, but by the same token I don't think he's up to the mark by a long chalk. It does confirm the lack of strength in depth, but SOMEHOW we're top by a point. And end of May I'd be beside meself and huggin strangers if thats still the case.

Beer anybody? :p

GET IN

GO YOU GOOD THING

Beautiful play by Yossi and Masch, Masch has had a few of those type of plays lately.  By the way does anyone know what Torres celebration was about?

Man City have much better players than Portsmouth -  I watched them today and they have a  pretty damn good starting eleven. Bellamy's confidence is flying at the minute. They look fairly well organised and have another match to 'gel' before we play them.

I wouldn't be too confident that we would beat them with today's setup and approach.

Gotta say , that was a mad team to start with.

3-4-2-1 at the beginning. More like 4-4-2 at the end.
