Postby Dundalk » Tue Apr 17, 2007 11:46 am

At last!!

Thats more money on my Sky bill now :D

From liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool Football Club today confirmed that it is likely to launch a TV channel in the UK later this year.
The club already produces a weekly 3-hour TV show which is broadcast in 47 different countries outside of the UK.

Rick Parry, Liverpool Chief Executive, commented: "We are very excited about the prospect of the Club channel which could be a great addition to the coverage that we already provide for our supporters through our website, mobile services and print media.

"We would like to be able to say more to fans at this stage as to how they will be able to get the new channel but, at the moment, discussions with broadcasters are ongoing and there are a number of details still to be worked out. As soon as we are in a position to release further details, we will do so."

About time, that's all I can say.

I some how think Gillett and Hicks are good at marketing and therefore this is where they saw the way they can make extra cash out of Liverpool.

We are one of the worlds most supported clubs yet our marketing is sh#te. Anyone can see this so without a doubt the new owners will be exploring every avenue to make more money.

was only thinking about this last week. I thought the new owners might start this up.

It will be the best channel going. all the archived matches that we have. It will be amazing.

I ain't arsed as my cable is chipped anyhow. I can watch cfc, mufc, celtic and rangers tv now. They are all :censored:.

Who would you like to host it? I reckon Kelly Dalglish and Rob Maccaffery.

Live premier league games are only allowed to be screened by $KY and Setanta from next season. The likelihood will be that the full game will be shown after it's been played like .tv do. Any live coverage will probably be restricted to pre-season friendlies, reserve team games and youth games. If they get  this right I can see it being an exellent channel and a great way for the club to expand it's marketing potential that seems to be so important these days.

If anyone's interested in trying to get a job working on the channel the club are recruiting as we speak.

We have lost out on alot of money through not having a TV station. Man U have had one for the best part of 10 years what has been the delay? Its good to see Gillett and Hicks kicking backsides and getting things moving.

I'm guessing there'll be no live games, but full games in the week after a match has taken place.

Documentaries, classic archive games, reserve and youth coverage...

Done right, it could be quite something. Deffo should have Aldridge on board. :)

Aldo would be brilliant, they should deffo look at getting him in, i'd also go for Lawrenson personally.

If I'm not mistaken,  doesn't Tom Hicks own the Fox (or maybe another name) Sports Latin American soccer or sports channel? Surely this could be used to expand the LFC brand into South America - a football crazy part of the world but an area that already has well established native clubs of their own (Boca Juniors, Santos, Sao Paulo etc)?
