There is no room for anything else , its LFC or nothing ,even the majority of match going fans couldn't give two :censored: about there national team . Oh they might take an interest in england or whoever , but it will be LFC that's in there hearts and on there minds . It's a cultural thing i think ,that's all .I'm not saying LFC are better or worse than redsoxfans ,it's just the support is shown in a different way . Anyway i think it would be a good idea to have some sort of supporter exchange and it would certainly help clear the debate up .

Got to agree with Igor.

I dont even watch other games. When you lads mention a player, most times I have to look them up on the internet to see who they are. I dont give a fig about anyother team than Liverpool. Honest truth, I dont think I cant name even 2 Everton players. The bald yankee goalie I know and some black fella up front called yobbo. And thats only because he's got a díckhead name.

You should always know your enemies Reg.  :D

LFC is my passion but it's not the only sport I watch, I think that is a bit close minded and sad to be honest, there is a whole world of sport out there to be enjoyed.

I dont have time to watch other games to tell you the truth mate, I've got a young family and I have to give them time. The only rule in our house is when the reds are on the box, thats my sacred time. Non negotiable.

We just disagree a bit, as we have experienced different things in different places. We all want the same thing, which is success for LFC. I'm here to learn and if I can be of any resource to any of you also, just ask. :)

I hope I never offended you... it was never my original  intention just wanted to engage you in  light hearted banter mate ... and once again your  input is appreciated

OWNER John W Henry has urged Liverpool’s players to give everything to transform the club’s fortunes as he admitted reinforcements are unlikely to arrive until next summer.

The American, who revealed that his investment company New England Sports Ventures (NESV) will change its name to Fenway Sports Group, admitted the Reds are in a “very difficult period”.

But Henry insists blaming anyone will achieve nothing and he says they will only come through it if everyone pulls in the same direction.

“The club has gone through a very difficult period and the period has not ended,” he said.

“It’s up to us to build a winner going forward. It’s up to them (the players) to determine to win now.

“We saw a certain team on the field against Chelsea last week that showed what they can do.

“We also know how competitive the EPL is this year. There are no guaranteed matches any longer for any club. This club can be better.
any one particular player is simply wrong. This club needs to play up to their potential every match. If they don’t, they won’t win.”

Answering questions from independent Liverpool FC website Red and White Kop, Henry vowed to invest in the squad but believes the club will conduct most of its business at the end of the season rather than in January.

“We have work to do and must invest in this club to improve it on the field,” he added. “Can that be successfully done in January? A number of people I’ve talked with doubt it.

“Most people seem to think it will be the summer before we can really begin to improve.

“So the players – all 11 each week – have to be on the same page every match and have to live up to the history and respect this club has engendered – no matter what.

“I’ve met with a number of our players and had private discussions with some of them. I’ve been greatly impressed by them personally. They are all exceptionally bright and they all want to be here.

“The question they have had, rightfully so, is whether or not the club is going to go in the right direction. They all want to see that.
“I have been very forthright about our philosophy and about what we are going to try to achieve. Some would prefer a quick fix. Others prefer to focus on the long-term and that is very difficult for most players.

“But this club needs everyone on the same page every day. We need everyone focused on what needs to be done in the next match facing us and during that match.

“The club should not have to settle for less. As one insightful player told me, “The spirit of the side needs to be there like a family – as one.”

Henry added: “The values that we have to strive for within the club at Liverpool emanate from the supporters.

“We cannot have anyone at the club who when they walk into the Academy, Melwood or Anfield, aren’t aware of club values and that the club comes first and foremost.

“In Boston every player who puts on a Boston Red Sox uniform knows what it means to wear that uniform. It’s something very special. Wearing that uniform has a great deal of meaning.

“We will make mistakes and it will be up to us to correct them. With the level of support this club has, if we are all on the same page, we will be incredibly successful.”

You seem to have missed a bit RBG? Where Henry states:
“Blaming the manager or any one particular player is simply wrong."
Im sure it was coincidental even though it was strange that the particular bit about the manager was omitted...

Spooky!

It's a great song, perfect for pumping up a crowd. I can envision the Kop jumping up and down to it. :buttrock The only problem is it mentions Boston. Henry knows the band, maybe they can create a version mentioning Liverpool.

Tom Werner confirmed as Liverpool FC chairman
Nov 25 2010 by James Pearce, Liverpool Echo

LIVERPOOL principal owner John Henry today paid tribute to Anfield's outgoing chairman Martin Broughton - as he confirmed Tom Werner will take over the role on December 1.

New England Sports Ventures (NESV) and Liverpool FC released a statement saying American TV exeutive Werner will become chairman of the Reds when British Airways chairman Broughton, steps down from his term of office on November 30.

Broughton, along with departed former managing director Christian Purlsow and Anfield Commercial Director Ian Ayre, was pivotal in removing detested former owners Tom Hick and George Gillett following dramatic court battles on either side of the Atlantic last month.

Boston Red Sox baseball team owner and former hedge fund manager Henry said: "I want to pay tribute to Martin Broughton and the magnificent job he has done for Liverpool FC.

"He was appointed in difficult circumstances and faced challenging times yet he always focused on doing what was in the best long-term interests of the club.

"It has been a pleasure for us to work with Martin and we wish him well in all that he does in the future."

Added Boston based Henry: "I am delighted that Tom has agreed to take over as chairman.

"It is a crucial role as we move forward and no-one is better placed than Tom to take up the reins and help provide leadership and vision in the coming years."

Werner said:  "It is a great honour to be taking over from Martin as chairman of this great club. We have a tremendous foundation to build on for this season and the long-term.

"Our goal is to work tirelessly for our supporters and deliver the best conditions for a winning team and silverware in the trophy room."

Broughton, a long term Chelsea fan,  added:  "This has been one of the most memorable experiences of my working life and I'm proud to have played my part in helping to secure the future of this wonderful club.

"It was always my intention to stand down once the sale was completed and I'm happy that Liverpool FC is now in good hands.

" Everyone associated with the club can look forward to an exciting future with the right owners and the club on a secure financial footing.

"I've been impressed with the way that NESV have already approached the job ahead and both John and Tom are winners who want to see the club competing again at the top of European football.

"I also want to say a big thank you to the Liverpool fans for all their support during the past seven months.

"This is a very special place with fantastic supporters and through a difficult time they always kept faith in what we were trying to do.

"I've grown to love the club and it's been a privilege for me to have been here.

Maybe Thommo can go over it to ascertain whether I missed some relevant information ..... if he has the time to spare that is  :D

Although I had hoped for a "football" Chairman to be appointed I am not surprised given the link to JWH that Tom Werner has taken the job of Chairman. Seems a decent enough gentleman.

Next up is the new Chief Executive...essential that this guy is a football man IMO.

Refreshing that since NESV took over the club there has been a mass shift in mentality and chat amongst the fans to the long term future of the club, the youth (reserves etc), new players we can actually start to look to bring in etc etc.

Very pleasing :)

I was all for giving him a bit of time before when NESV first arrived but the longer that goes on with leaving this plebian in charge I have to question the professionalism of Henry and Werner. How much longer do we have to put up with this mediocrity?
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
