Liverpool u.n. - Nationalities at lfc

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby woof woof ! » Sun Jul 09, 2006 1:23 pm

Was chatting over a pint about the various nationalities that have played for Liverpool . Amazing just how many different countries have had a player wearing our shirt .
However when we considered the TOP footballing nations  we couldn't recall having a player from Italy . Were we wrong or just to drunk to remember ? .

:)

scraping the barrel a bit Dawsonio mate, a 16 y.o. youth player who was born in England with an Italian name.  :D

Nevertheless, he's probably the closest we've had to an Italian player, unless you count Ian "living in Italy was like living in another country" Rush.  :D

to be honest i can't recall any italian really making it in the premiership, fullstop.
apart from maybe little players such as materazzi and ferrari, who played for everton.

Apart from head scratching over Italians at LFC ,we also tried "Liverpools best international first 11 " you can use any formation but can only have one player per country .

So far I've gone for .

.                                         Grobbelar

.         ........              .........            Hypia            Risse

.         Gerrard             Molby             Alonso          ........

.                               Dalglish           Rush

  :)

Pannucci also had a brief, but successful loan spell at Chelsea a few years back.

And who could forget such 'legends' as Andrea Silenzi for Forest and Corrado Grabbi at Blackburn

And Boro have had a host of Italians down the years apart from Ravenelli - Festa, Maccarone, Branca

Who could forget Taibi for the scum either

Zola though, what a player :bowdown

And then there was Di Canio at West Ham.  Great player in his day...too bad about his politics! :D

id maybe put markus babbell right back, if it wasnt for injury the guy was one of the best in the position.

And a personal fave was berger at left wing, but thats just me
