As you can see my formation is based on Rafa's 4-5-1/4-2-3-1 formation. The formation also has the flexibility to go 4-3-3 with Suarez, Torres, Kuyt up front and Alonso, Hamann, Gerrard in the middle.
To highlight my key and/or controversial picks.
Forward: Well in the last decade there was really only 2 strikers to pick from Michael Owen and Fernando Torres. Robbie Fowler's prime was not really in that decade. As much as I had to think through... I had to pick Torres because he's more versatile than Owen and had a better scoring ratio as well.
Steven Gerrard is absolutely the best player in the last decade so no surprises there.
What surprises me is that I had difficulty naming wingers... we hadn't had good out and out wingers in the last 11 years! So I had to pick Dirky because he is the most consistent performer throughout the years and also gives the fighting spirit to the team. Suarez on the left because he is the most exciting player we have had for the last decade. However, I must admit the wingers are my weakest link in this line-up.
At the defensive and holding midfield area is Hamann who is absolutely a rock and also good at distribution and Alonso the long range playmaker.
Another controversial pick I must say is Glen Johnson as LB. Superficially it seems like I have picked someone out of position, but from recent games I feel that Johnson is even better on the left than on the right and edges out Riise and Ziege in that department.
Hyppia must be one of the best defenders we ever had and then Carragher. Markus Babbel who can play CB as wells RB and he was absolutely phenomenal during the short period he played for us and edges out Finnan, whom I like as well.
And yes I think that this lineup can definitely win the Premier League for multiple seasons...
