Because we don't have enough quality to keep it going all season. 7 games won straight may be a lot to us but Chelsea have won 15-25 games in a row.

The Chavski game the other day gave me real hope. We are no letting goals in and we are scoring.

This time last year we were struggling badly in the EPL. If you asked any of us if we'd be happy with 4th spot we would've grabbed it. This season I think we should be aiming for second and fuck cares what chevski do.

2nd in the EPL and a good run in europe and I will be a very very happy man. Next season is when we dethrone chelsea (touch wood).

The minimum requirement is fourth place.

If we deepen our squad and add to the team in January, with Vieira leaving Arsenal and Man Utd in crisis, I strongly believe that second place is entirely within our reach.

If we can get second place while finishing within 9-12 points of Chelsea in first, I would be happy with that.

The thing that I find amazing, is that if Chelsea hadn't been bought by the Russian, we would be genuine contenders for the title within three years I think.

Arsenal are out of the title race. Their away form is terrible and they aren't going to win the league with that kind of record on the road.

Man Utd have a slim chance, but another Boro or Blackburn result and they're done for.

Chelsea are going to win the league again, because unlike us,Man Utd and Arsenal they aren't going to lose to the likes of West Bromich,Middlesbrough,Blackburn or Bolton.

Theres always a chance A.B.  Lets face it Wigan were unlucky not to turn them over on day 1!  All it'll take is for Chelsea to drop points at Arsenal and Spurs and when we knock them over in February they'll definately be in reach.

With the Mancs up against them at the end of the season both teams (for different reasons) could be under pressure to get the win.

Its too early to say but I BELEIVE  we can win the Primiership.

We werent the favourite in CL last year (and for that matter even this year we are not the favoured team to win CL.)

We did it in CL last year. We can do it in Primiership this year. We have 1 match in hand. We win it that leaves the gap between us and Chelski 9 points. Look like this its only 3 more matches. We win three, and Chelski draw/ loose a few matches its enough.

I admit last season Chelski only lost 1 game. But this season they had lost 1 and drew 1. They might loose to Wigan this weak too.

The are facing more problems. Especially, their players arent happy coupled with international duties. The other EPL team has been very competitive this year. Every other team uses Chelski as a target practice (to draw or win against them).

Whereas Chelski have given up early in League cup too. Their players are slowly facing reality of physical tiredness.

They have no plan to further invest in players, whereas we are seriuos about certain players come January.

Our prob of strikers is well settled, we have more options with Mellor and Sinama back in business.

Right wing has been good with Garcia, Gerrard and Finnan switching on and off.

We have been so far so good. Pressure is lifted and is dumped on Jose Morinho's shoulder. He has started worrying and apparently took a rest to go back to Porto to rejuvenate. All these are signs that Chelski is vincible. And this will make Chelsea loose afew matches

We have won 1 shield already this year (likewise Chelsea) But We have more Trophies on the way from Japan even before the mid of the season.

Not to worry. We are in no rush to win the Primiership, but BELEIVE we will this season.

what? i am not sure if you mean what you typed, but if you did, i don't agree

1) you can't compare the ECL with the EPL. Anyone can win the ECL from the knock out stage. but to win the epl this stage we will not only be relying on Chelsea to lose 3 or draw 4 or combination of, and we must of course win our remaining games. If as you say all we need to do is win 3, you are of base IMO.

3) That's not what I am hearing. They have been looking quite hard IMO, and have already been turned down by Carlos Tevez.

I would be good to win this year (EPL), but it will come down to chelsea losing it more so then us winning it. I just can't see them losing 3 games with the depth they have in the squad.

I can see the league roughly shaping up like this come the end of the season, with estimates for points:

Chelsea - 90/95+
Man Utd - 75/80
Arsenal - 75/80
Liverpool - 65/70
Tottenham - 55/60
Bolton - 55/60

I think Chelsea will win the league quiet comfortably, and there isn’t too much between Man Utd and Arsenal, I still think that we will fall 10 points or so short of them 2, but will have a reasonable amount of distance from whoever finishes in 5th spot. I think that would represent good progress for us. At the beginning of the season I wanted us to end up in the top 4, surpass 70 points and get to the knockout stages of the Champions League, 1 has been achieved and the other 2 are well within our grasps.

I still think that Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal are better than us by a reasonable distance, but the gap has closed and that is what we all realistically wanted. I’m not going to get ahead f myself, steady progress is the name of the game.

i think what he is saying is that every game they play is being treated a bit like a cup final by their opposition - i.e., they don't get easy games, even against poor teams.  Everyone is up for it, because they want to test themselves against the best and cover themselves in glory.

He probably has a point.  Over the length of a season it must get a bit wearying.  Look at any dominant team in any sport and I think it is true - it is easier to be a challenger than the champion.

Still not enough though, even with everything else.  They'll win it again this year, and we'll be stoked if we can get 2nd.  Rafa would be manager of the year if he can get us that high up the table I reckon.

I reckon we'll finish 4th. Chelsea will win the league at a canter, I don't think anyone can seriously suggest otherwise. Arsenal & ManU aren't what they were a few seasons ago but let's not kid ourselves that they aren't still very strong sides. ManU in particular will have a bit of a cash-splash in January and strengthen their squad and Arsenal are quite capable of stringing together a very strong run.

Having said that, we're playing extremely well at the moment and it's like going back to the good old days again - suddenly sides are getting the fear when they have to play us and Anfield is becoming a bit more like a fortress again. We've hopefully put a woeful start to the season well behind us and given a couple of decent signings in January and a bit of luck in terms of staying injury-free we could turn out to be a surprise package. I'll go for 4th very close behind Arsenal & ManU but if lady luck's on our side then maybe one of those two will fail to get their act together properly in the new year and we could even finish up coming 3rd

I really think we can win it this year. Chelsea have been winning a lot of games but i think at some point this season the will struggle to get the wins. At the rate we are going it is very possible we can do it, all it will take is for Chelsea to draw a couple and meanwhile us keep winning.
