Over on Skysports.com they have the following stories:

1. Liverpool are watching obscure Scottish player Stephen McPhee who plays for Beira Mar in the Portugese league. He used to play for Port Vale.

2. Mark Van Bommel has apparently agreed to sign for Real Madrid, which, if true, is an interesting development in the old Gerrard to Madrid rumour.

Just read the Skysports article. Sad really, when on the same page RM and Chelsea are featured fighting over a Brazilain Starlett and we are left looking at a cast off from Coventry and Port Vale !!
It is hard to see how McPhee looks better than Mellor, age 23 and no track record to speak of.
I suspect the scout was watching another player and just used McPhee's name as a blind !!
