they had 40,000+ people sitting there waiting for you to make a mistake?
Think about it... it probably pisses you off knowing your boss is going to be petty about you being 2 minutes late. Or someone in work says something about you thats not complimentry. It ruins your day. More often than not if one person says something out of turn people get into a huff. Think about when you play football yourself. One of the opposing players walks into you deliberately or gives you a sly kick... does it make you happy? I would think most of you it will annoy.
Now i don't care who you are... if you're going to tell me that having 40,000 people on your back shouldn't affect you then you're talking out of your anal passage.
The players look terrified every time they get on the pitch. Its not an opinion, its not an exageration. Its a fact.
They show a lack of confidence and a lack of believe in everything they do. Its not because they're bad players, most of them would walk into 90% of teams in the world. But they are terrified to make a mistake. That flick that Kewell might want to try will become a sqaure ball. The creative through pass that Le Tallec may want to play might just all of a sudden seem to risky. The run that Owen wants to make doesn't happen as he knows the pass wasn't going to be good enough. The midfield dare not overlap the attackers incase we go a goal behind. It all has an effect on the way the team performs.
Now think about it the otherway.
You have 40,000 people with you. If you make a mistake it doesn't matter so much because they believe you can correct it. Le Tallec plays the through ball and it doesn't quite come off the fans applaud the intent as apose to groaning. The player then feels at home, welcome and relaxed knowing they can see what he was trying. He doesn't feel like he has to explain himself. Its a weight off their shoulders.
The fans have the power to boost the players confidence. At the moment we have a group of Talented players, with no confidence and sh##e fans who are just silent all the time.
Be the 12th man... remember the Roma game at anfield a few seasons ago? the wins against the mancs. It was the opposition that was terrified not the home team. The atmosphere was simply frightening. It gave me goosebumps those nights. Thats what happens when you show your support and love for the club.
I long for the days to return when its a good experience to go to anfield. I want it to be something good again, something special, where you can go and support the side without hearing the abuse the players and staff recieve and without fans being critisised for getting behind the team. Sadly i think those days have passed and i believe LFC's chances of success have untill those days return.
