19 million for a striker who has NEVER scored a goal for us....the world has gone mad

Hasn’t really been given time as yet - the move is a sensible one for him.

I must have missed it.  Crazy money for a fringe player who cost us 3 million 18 months ago.

Absolutely shocked at this tbh. Thought he would go on loan but not sold as he wasnt supposed to be a moneyball signing.

Most on here raved about him and his potential but we are none the wiser as to how good he is because he never played. Dissappointed to see we are still at this shyte and it wont be long before the youth realise they are better off signing elsewhere.

Moneyball ? It’s nothing like a moneyball

I think the problem was he was getting to stage of needing more game time but because Mo moves more into the middle a bit he was going to struggle to get game time so the move is a good one for him

As for youth getting a chance - TAA should show the youngsters that if you are good enough you will get your chance

I’d say it’s clear to the training team whether or not he was going to make it or not. 19 mills a great price, half of likely top notch replacement. Game on.

It was quite clear that Solanke is not the type of striker that Klopp prefers. Just look at who is playing for us right now, firmino, mane and salah... who can all be categorized as wide attacking players/ attacking midfielders/ forwards. Solanke is more of a traditional out and out striker a poor man's Sturridge if you will. Klopp would rather play Shaq up top than Solanke. So no complaints with this move especially the amount of money we are getting.

I’m a bit confused by this money ball paranoia. Can somebody give me a few evidential examples under FSG. Please don’t include Suárez and Coutinho who both demanded exits to Spain and there is nothing to suggest that they were bought simply to be sold at a profit. If you look at the vast majority of purchases under FSG prior to Klopp’s arrival then if moneyball was the objective they certainly were not very good at it.

Come on Solanke is nowhere near good enough to lead the line for us, the lad will make a living out of the game but no way is he a Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez etc.
The staff at Chelsea came to that conclusion and now our staff have as well, £19m is great money for him. Terrific business by the club.

I agree with yakka, don't know how can some people be disappointed, the lad clearly didn't have what it takes to be a top player and we got great money for him. Like Reg says, £19m is half from getting a decent player. If we can sell Solanke for £19m and get, say, Werner for £40m, that would be an amazing piece of business by the club.

That Michael Edwadrs is a magician, I'm sure he can sell Origi and maybe Lallana for similar money.
