Depending on how shattered Cisse's tibia is it could end up threatening his career not just his season, lets hope not.

Remember David Busst's injury? His was definitely a compound fracture though.

Busst's injury - not pretty

Cisse's injury was NOT a compound fracture. In a compound fracture the bone breaks the skin and effectively the bone protruding from the skin........

His break is the kind where there are mutiple small fractures and bits of bone shattered at the point of impact .....this may well prove to be a career threatening injury but with a Pin fitted and a long recovery time , the bone will heal. The problem is not so much the bones but various tendons and ligaments around the joints and from the pictures on TV it would appear the fracture occurs half way up his shin so hopefully this hasn't damaged the tendons and muscle too badly ......

Cisse got smashed cause he is a bottle boy. He looks fragile and will not hack it in the premier league. Its too physical for him, now we've got to wait 18 months to see him reach any kind of form. thats if his career isnt now over!

believe me he will have been replaced by the end of the season.

this was a major silly post by Dalglish, but hey! not the first either!

Doesnt matter whether the skin breaks or not! its the damage to the bone and the muscles surrounding the shin etc.

Look at david busst, the coventry player, he snapped the muscle in front of his shin, the tendons or what ever. now his foot is "wonky" and he cant walk properly.

Cisse has a comminuted fracture. The important factor is the amount of shattering or fragmentation of the tibia. If there is say an inch of his middle tibia that is completely shattered then that area will be un-pinable and will be lost. When healing does occur his right leg will be shorter than his left and there will be no way he will be able to run like he used to.

It could be a career injury. Let's hope not. If it is will Liverpool have some sort of insurance for their loss? I know the players themselves insure against such accidents, but I wonder if the club do as well. If not that was a sad way to see 14 million pounds wasted. I think it must be the curse of Houllier doing its work.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.
