CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL - We can do it!

I think we should play pennant as he in the only right midfielder who has given ashley the runaround in the past few games agains them , he will stop ashley bombarding forward and that along with riera stop bosingwa will be good . chelsea are playing with 3 strikers , kalou and joe cole as wide man , their pace would be something to worry as we have average full backs . If gerrard plays on the right i'll feel more confident as we can play masch and xabi sitting infront of the defense . Very worried about this game like anyone else as when any of our rivals have dropped points we have never taken advantage , good time to start now and i hope we will .

1-0 to us with babel coming of the bench

Make or break, Clash of the Titans, Sky always seem to try and suggest that these sort of games will be breath taking exhibitions of football but they usually end up as a boring cancell each other out sort of game.

Lets just go at them from the first whistle, get a couple of goals then change formation, sit back and hold on for dear life :;):

Three points for us today no problem, their record has to go sometime so it might as well be today, I have a great feeling about today I would even go as far as to say I will be dissapointed if we only end up with a point , we are still riding on a high after beating United so that feeling with be off the scale when we sort Chelsea out today, get in there smash the sh1t out of them and their unbeaten record.

By holding shape they will force the Chelsea fullbacks to hold their positions more often.

But at the same time we need to be able to compete with the 3 man central midfield which will probably consist of Lampard, Deco and Mikel. Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano operating in the centre should mean that they are unable to play through the centre.

If Keane and Babel are not fully fit we can use them as impact subs later on in the game. One thing Kuyt will do is work their centre backs.

Don’t think this is the game for Agger, we hasn’t looked great so far, would prefer Hyypia in there alongside Carragher, I’m sure his aerial ability and general defensive awareness will come in use more than Agger’s ability to bring the ball out.

                             Reina

Arbeloa      Carragher      Hyypia      Aurelio

            Gerrard   Mascherano  Alonso
Pennant                                        Riera

                            Kuyt

Subs

Keane
Babel
Benayoun
Lucas
Dossena
Agger
Cavalieri

Yeah thats a great idea.Considering Pennant is about as defencely deficient as an Ox pregnant with triplets,we should play him there, just to annoy ourselves?

Pennant offers NOTHING in way of cover for anyone mate,he is average at best!I want Kuyt on the  right.I will go as far to say that IF we get a result,Kuyt will play a huge part in it!

I’m no Pennant fan, but one thing he does is get goal side, hold position and cover the right back. Just because he doesn’t go into crunching tackles left, right and centre doesn’t mean he doesn’t defend.

Kuyt will wonder infield from the touchline leaving their left back free to exploit two against one situations against Arbeloa.

first off.. i dont think that playing one striker to pin back their back line would be the smartest of movs by Rafa...
theyr missing quite a few players and im sure some of the players theyr gonna put out against us wont be fully fit so id rather we go with 2 upfront because honestly.. every single time we;v tried playing our 4-2-3-1 this season it hasnt worked and we had to go back to the 4-4-2 to get anything...
i think we should put out our best lineup and start what seemingly is our best formation atm...

id go for

                              Reina

Arbeloa        Carragher         Hyypia       Agger

Pennant         Gerrard           Alonso       Riera

                      Kuyt           Keane

Agger at leftback if only to keep dossena as far away from the pitch as possible... Dont know if aurelio is fit or not yet but i think that Agger would be best deployed in a wider position where he could help out the central pairing of alonso and gerrard in bring the ball out of our areas without greatly risking our defensive shape...

anyways... i think that it'll be hard to get anything out of the game and the best thing i can see Rafa doing is treating it like an away champions leage knockout game where you set out trying to go for a 0-0 draw and look to snatch one late on...
Again.... only way i can see us beating them is if they arent good or fit enough to beat us...

Agger at left back? How many times has he played there since he has been at Liverpool? And you want to all of a sudden move him to left back again the best side in the Premiership?

Agger isn’t exactly the most mobile, Bosingwa, Kalou and Joe Cole would tear him apart in one on one situations.

Keane didn’t train on Friday and Babel isn’t totally fit so it leaves our striking options limited. I think using these 2 as subs could have a big say in the game.

why not pair Keane up with one of our promising yongsters like Pachacho or N'Gog, and then play Kuyt on the right and tell him to kick seven shades of sh1t out of Ashley Cole. We might as well go for broke in this game, we will either sqeeze a narrow win or get murdered so in my book we might as well go down in flames with some honour.

if we do get murdered i would like us to go down in flames as Heimdall says. lets see if rafa dares to take off 2 defenders for 2 wingers again this time. he seems to have a different approach this season and i like it.

Stream, if anyone is interested (will need Sopcast or TVAnts).  I usually watch using sopcast- with ESPN, True Sports.  Quite good most of the time.

Gosh......Almost all the "experts" especially in football forecast expect us to lose....  :veryangry

If we beat chelsea we will be 8 points ahead of manure....and that will put a final nail in their pathetic season...... Hope this will spur the wheels to come off their season and they proceed to get relegated.... Did you see how ever$hit supports made fergie sub rooney ?  :p

But knowing how we like to do stuff the hard way....this match will most likely be a draw....
