CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL - Come on you rent boys!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Not to mention a couple of

"he's not good enough. He'll never be"

"7 points behind Manchester, we can't win the league"

and perhaps, although it might be a bit early, a "I've seen it in Rafa's face, he's going to leave"

Needless to say, Luis Garcia trickster and ball waster thread would have some entries too
:D

I'd be happy with a point at this point.  If we would have beaten Everton I would even say that a loss wouldn't be half bad, but WE NEED at least a point in this match, no excuses.  We have the players, they just are'nt playingto their potential.  I'm willing to go out on a limb and say Crouch is overrated.  From what I have seen of him (World Cup and with Liverpool), he has had his moments of absolute brilliance, then others, he just seems lanky and foolish.  I say Kuyt gets the start and we play with 5 midfielders with Bellamy coming on around the 50th minute or so.

The hype surrounding Crouch is over the top, but the fact is he's scoring, and there is nothing more you can ask of a striker.

Just look at Morientes - all the talent and pedigree in the World, but he couldn't hit the net.

This weekend could be vital to our EPL title ambitions. If we lose and Manure beat Arsenal its going to be a long hard road back. If we win and Arsenal thrash the Mancs we are back in the hunt with a vengance. This is a must not lose game. I actually think we will scrape a win but even a draw would be acceptable.

If we ever need more belief that we will win the league, beating Chelsea would certainly help.

I just hope the team is fired up by then.

On a side note, I think its actually good that we're playing Chelsea really early in the season. Especially away. Even if we come away with at least a draw this time around, its always going to be harder for them to win when they come back for the second tie at Anfield.

-----

Not that anyone cares, but.. :D

Here's my line-up.

                       Reina

Finnan        Agger     Carragher     Warnock

               Sissoko      Gerrard

Pennant                                    Aurelio

                      Garcia

                      Crouch

Moaninho is at it again :(

Mourinho also hit out at Greek referee Kyros Vassaras' decision to show four yellow cards to his players in the second half against Werder Bremen.

He said: "The reality is that if you look at Barcelona tonight they had no yellow cards, Bayern Munich had no yellow card, Liverpool had no yellow card, Valencia had no yellow cards, Roma had no yellow cards but Chelsea have four. Do you think it is violence?"

Perhaps if his players didnt foul and cheat they might not get booked.

I would like to see the same line up, maybe with Gonzales instead of Aurelio. Luis seems to always cause trouble to Chelsea so he whould be given a chance. The team hasn't clicked yet so any formation is a risk IMO. We have the players to win it, lets just hope they get their act together.

We will probably play like against PSV a draw would'nt be a bad result, but we really could do with the 3 points, so I would like us to attack them from the off, then shut up shop.
I hope for this every game but it never happens for me I would love Bellamy and Kuyt to play upfront but I doubt it will happen.

I can just see it now.

Leon will make a sarcastic post and everyone will take it the wrong way

Lakes10 will be asking for the manager to be sacked.

And Bigmick will start a thread entitled "the title challenge: I know it's early but..."

I'm not being pessimistic but I seriously cannot see us winning on sunday. Our season start is not the best coupled with the fact that we invariably don't win at Stamford Bridge.

1-1

I would go with this:

                       Reina

Finnan      Carragher      Hypia      Warnock

Gerrard     Sissoko       Alonso       Gonzalez

                Bellamy     Crouch

Think Hypia may be best suited in this game as his pace wont be exploited too much away from home and his aerial dominance may prove very beneficial against the likes of drogba.

Think Bellamy can be the ideal person to get under carvalho's skin and as much as i like kuyt, Crouch may be best suited to this game.

Im 99% sure that the team will look nothing like this.

I think alot of the games we have played so far Rafa has treated has build up to this one. He knows we have a :censored: record against them in the league and if we can beat them early on away people will sit up and take notice of us.

I think this has been the problem in recent weeks with players being rotated so that everything can be right for this game. Obviously we haven't had much luck either this season and any team that is beating a team in shots 20-4 should expect to win. Also Riise is a massive loss, he worries Moureen.

I've got a feeling Agger has just become Rafa first choice at CB now Hyppia seems to be struggling for pace in my view. Anyway here is what i think Rafa will choose his first team bar Riise (if he picks Zenden i'm turning over :D ).

                       Reina

Finnan      Carragher      Agger     Warnock

Gerrard     Sissoko       Alonso       Gonzalez

               Bellamy     Crouch
