Chelsea 8/8 wins this sunday?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mramo » Fri Sep 30, 2005 12:02 pm

Is the following true?

Chelsea go into this sunday to look to equal an all time record previously set by Liverpool when they won 8 games in a row from the start of the opening season in 1990/91

It was Norwich City that ended liverpool's 100% record in the 9th game...

Can anyone confirm this?

You are correct about Liverpool.

Couldn't tell you if it's an 'official' record though.  I don't care neither.

I got that information from Soccerbase.  They were called Wimbledon back in the day.  Soccerbase updates daily.  When Wimbledon changed their name, Soccerbase acted accordingly.

I think another team went on a longer winning sequence than our 8 wons on the trot...although you might have to go back to the Preston North End days.

Incidentally, anyone remember what happened to us in 1990/91?

Have a look at the history book Jose. :D
