Actually, it's called being unnecessarily vulgar and I've had my fill of it.

Oh so that's why I'm seeing fewer posts from Lando these days. 

Lando when you are going on the attack next time at least try and make a coherent and lucid point. Picking a microscopic subsection of statistics to prove a point is silly and neither proves or disproves the worth of statistics but you have demonstrated firstly how statsitics can be manipulated and secondly that you're not quite as clever as you think. Statistics only measure what has happened in the past so I fail to see how they can be used to predict the future, except in the sense they can be used to predict trends, which is probably what Owzat was trying to show in the first place.
Overall thogh statistics are only a pointer and I actually agree that they aren't the be all of everything but they are a good place to start.

So you heard a stat somewhere that said 85% of stats are made up?Classic.If that does'nt highlight the truth that stats are not the be all and end all then i don't know what does!
The reason i'm critical of them is that they NEVER tell the whole story.
Some fella,for example on here earlier tried to use stats to say that Eto was better than Torres.
Using the games Eto played for Barca and Torres for A madrid over 3 seasons and their goal to games ratio to basically say that Eto is better.
Fuc'king absolute nonsense.Anyone with half a brain can look at these figures and instantly cast them aside.Barcelona have had the luxury of excellent footballers that will give any striker a boatload of chances in almost every game.the way they pass the ball around and get it into dangerous areas is excellent,a strikers dream!
Torres on the other hand played nearly every game alone upfront with mostly mediocre players around him,less supply,players of less ability.He had to work his nuts off and create a lot of goals from nothing.
This is just one example of how stats are of no use in a lot (not all) cases.Say for example you had not watched football,the numbers would suggest Eto was a better striker when everyone knows this is not the case.
