Benitez linked with madrid - Will he be tempted?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I personally think Benitez is here to stay but there is a lot of speculation involving premiership managers taking over Luxembergos spot, after he got the sack at the weekend.

I think he is loyal but so many managers have made moves from successful clubs to manage their boyhood team, hopefully Benitez isn't the next one.

no manaer with any decency will go to manage that mess of a club with "the worst charman in the world" florentino perez  in charge and the overblown masssive ego's of the so called "galiticos",perez has fired 6 managers while at the helm of madrid, including del bosque "who was sacked 2 days after he won there last la liga title" who  also won won 2 cl titles in 2000 and 2002.that unjust sacking shows perez has no clue about football and only cares about making money of selling shirts of galiticos backs

I fully agree with you. Real Madrid is a laughing-stock at the moment, and Rafa knows it. He will not leave us.

5 managers in 2 1/2 years. I think Benitez is fed up with the board members influencing his every move. He wont be tempted in the slightest.

The only temptation that concern me, is the Spanish Squad. Many are pointing out to Rafa if we don't make a good WC (and that's likely), that would be a lot tougher to say no, but Real Mandril? never. Rafa wouldn't tryumph there. First thing he'd do is to get rid od many players there, and that dress room of aging players would make him his work impossible.

Any manager would be mad to take this job, it's basically like putting a noose around their own neck.

I think Benitez has more sense than to go to Real. He would be on a hiding to nothing.

Rafa will be Real Madrid one day but not for many years i'm sure. I've no doubt it is his ambition to one day manage his former club but it will be on his terms and is perhaps more likely to happen when Perez has been usurped by someone with more football nous and a less trigger happy finger.

Sometimes when a manager is offered a big job they take it because they fear the opportunity may never come again (The National team is one of these for sure). I figure the Madrid job is there whenever Rafa wants it whether it's now or in 5 years time.

I think Sabre has a point about the Spain job though so i will defo be cheering them on at the World Cup!

BENITEZ PLAYS DOWN MADRID LINK

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has distanced himself from reports linking him with the Real Madrid manager´s job.

Juan Ramon Lopez Caro is currently in charge at the Bernabeu, although vice-president Emilio Butragueno has left open the possibility of another change soon if results do not improve. Benitez has been seen as a candidate after spending almost a decade coaching at the club, starting off with their juniors and working up to the reserve team.

However, Benitez said: "I am happy at Liverpool, I am Liverpool´s manager and I have a job to do here."

I wouldn´t be that worried whenever Real Madrid changes manager (too often, true) cos, to tell the truth, here in _Spain nobody has ever talked about that possibility ( and taking into account that the media usually opens the widest range of managers, it´s strange) and, although its hard for me to say it, youre right...such a sensible man as Rafa is would never consider moving to a club where the manager can´t manage cos he always has to keep an eye on what the chairman and his "figures" are thinking.

As I said before, imagine Perez letting Raffa sign Peter Crouch   :kungfu:  I mean they didnt sign Ronaldino cause he was to ugly, what a big mistake, very BIG mistake.

I think this kinda says what we all want to hear from Rafa on the subject

The Spaniard has long links with the Bernabeu club after being an unused player during his younger days, as well as coaching the youth team and B team, as well as assisting the first team.

So it is of little surprise that Real are believed to be interest in bringing Benitez back, yet the Reds coach insists he will be staying on Merseyside to continue his fine work.

"I am happy at Liverpool, I am Liverpool's manager and I have a job to do here," said Benitez when questioned on reports linking him to Real Madrid.

"I have said this in the past and now I have an important game in the Champions League against Chelsea (on Tuesday) to think about and that is all that is on my mind.

"I certainly will not allow this speculation to disrupt my preparation for the game, but as I say, I am happy here at this club."

Just about sums up what we all wanted to hear ,made up about it i is
