Benfica assistant coach in confident mood

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 66-1137139704 » Thu Jan 26, 2006 2:43 pm

Benfica assistant boss Tony Bruins Slot has revealed he saw Man Utd defeat Liverpool, and his team can also do it.

Benfica take on Liverpool in the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

Slot admits Liverpool are stronger than United and their defence is solid, not giving any space to their opponents, which according to Slot, is typical of boss Rafa Benitez.

Slot hinted that taking Liverpool on the break would be the way to beat them as when they attack their formation soon goes from 4-4-2 to 4-2-4.

"Liverpool are stronger than Manchester United," said Slot.

"They are a well organised team in defence. They play with their 4-4-2, but it soon becomes a 4-2-4 when they are on the attack.

"The defence is solid and they do not give any space to their opponents, something which is typical of the style of Benitez - who we know well from our time in Spain.

"They are a very difficult team to beat."

"Gerrard is the star, the most important player,"

"But the force of Liverpool is in the way they act as a unit."

"We have seen Manchester United defeat them, and we can also do it. We have our weapons."

if you swap slot for mudface it  is only a tiny bit more annoying.

They beat the scum because they were better in midfield and the scum missed a few chances. Rafa will have been watching they and will set us up to dominate a weaker club . i see us play quite attacking from the start to stop they from getting confident in the opening 20 mins.

All champions league games are tricky but this was the best draw out of the hat.

We'll beat Benefica and then I hope we draw Barca, after they see off Chelski! In Europe, we are supreme! Just think how much it will pizz off Mo and Fergie when we return from Paris with Number 6!!! I hope someone sticks a camera in Neville's ugly mush and asks for a comment when we do it!! Fooking bliss, I tell ya. Bliss!

We will beat Benfica, no problem, no argument.
Their coach is doing his job and trying to lift his players and the fans - pity it will all be a waste of time.

That is probably what was going through Juves, Chelseas and AC Milans minds last season, let your guard down in europe, and you will get knocked the fu*k out.

We are the proof and we should know better.

We cannot take Benfica lightly, just as Gmac has said.

Work hard, as we did against Juve/Beyer/Sh*tski and we will go through.

Get cocky - out we will go.

Nowt wrong with a bit of confidence, in fact, it's probably a good thing! But, as you say...Let's not get over confident! All we need do is approach each team with the belief that that we can beat them. Show respect to the opposition by all means, but to show too much respect is as bad as showing none at all!! Defensively, we are sound and will handle most, middle of the park we command respect throughout Europe, so let's attack, attack, attack!! If we create enough chances, who knows, maybe even Cisse will score!
