Barca target hyypia - Once failed again, next to be biscan?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Barcelona are reported to be preparing a shock move for Liverpool's Finnish defender Sami Hyypia

as they look to complete their summer spending spree.
The Catalan giants have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in the likes of Henrik Larsson, Deco and Ludovic Giuly and now they want to strengthen their defence.

Barca coach Frank Rijkaard is keen to bolster his backline as he looks to build on last season's second place finish in La Liga.

The Camp Nou outfit have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Real Zaragoza's Argentine defender Gabriel Milito and they have now reportedly switched their attentions to Hyypia.

The Dutchman is thought to be a big admirer of Hyypia and reports suggest they have made discreet enquiries for the towering centre half.

Barca have already tried to raid Anfield for Czech striker Milan Baros only to be put off by the English club's valuation of the player.

The Reds are unlikely to encourage any move for Hyypia as the former Willem II defender is an instrumental member of the side.

New Reds coach Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in new players and would be loath to lose a star performer like Hyypia.

Only a major offer would tempt Liverpool to cash-in on Hyypia and with the season less than a month away it would not leave them a lot of time to bring in a replacement.

I have also seen that on Skysports.com.

I'd say there's a billion in one chance of Hyppia leaving!

I suppose you can't blame Barcelona for trying.  :D

Agreed,
I was just wondering if we can make money from selling Biscan to Barca, that'll be a fantastic exchange for both club :D

Ha, barcelona aren't stupid they'd put in the offer for us to sell him to them for a couple of pounds of peanuts or a six pack of beer.

As if any manager would be stupid enough to pay money for Biscan, what an idi... oh damn.  :D

If Hyypia leaves, he would be hard to replace. Its not like LFC has depth in defense. So, I don't see him go unless the transfer fees is huge enough to buy another younger top class defender. If No.4 leaves, I need to get another LFC jersey....

Don't even go there.

He's our best defender and one of our top 4 or 5 players. We HAVE TO keep him. Selling hi would be foolish, more lazy journalism me thinks.

Agree. We'd be losing not only a very good player but a focal point for the whole squad, and replacements of his standard will cost far more than we'd get for him. It would have to be ridiculous money for us even to consider it.

No, no, no..................you guys are missing the point, we AGREE to sell Hyppia to Barca, then send BISCAN instead, they wont notice until the season starts and realise how clueless the player they thought they had signed, by then it will be too late!!!!

Neville Bartos : Nah, forget about it.
Chopper : Because I don't know if you remember, Neville, but I had that bloody shotgun pointed at your head. I reconsidered and dropped it down to your kneecap. Remember?
