I guess that's why we don't get paid the 'big bucks' and that's one of the reasons why they do !!

its not just a matter of money, i was talking in general

andy johnson? you cannot be serious. he's another prefect example of a player who's having a good spell of form, mainly because nobody else in palace's team is capable of scoring. i'd personally like to see us move for robbie keane. he deserves better than spurs.

Robbie doesnt score enough goals at club level. But with a decent line of supply at a better club he could be a revelation. He`s also only twenty four.

or even bring anelka back. he's top quality, young and not cup tied. man city are so skint that any decent amount of money put on the table would mean that they have to sell.

Well we need someone, and either of the two you mentioned would be preferable to Andy Johnson.

Can't believe we are talking about Johnson and Beattie on here. Johnson is having a hot spell but my feeling is he will be aflash in the pan - another Marcus Stewart as someone else put it.
As for Beattie - Have you watched him play? Sure he has a great shot and he can head a ball but he's slow, his link-up play is awful and his 2nd touch is a sliding tackle. The lad will drown at a big club just like he does when he pulls on an England shirt.
If those two are the best of british i'm all for getting in a couple more Pedros.

Why is Andy Johnson getting goals in the Premiereship if he is so ******? Who is he scoring against and how many has he got? That is the important question.
If a Striker can score against the likes of ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool (on a good day) Everton (the way they are playing now), we should be interested. ie teams with decent defences.
On the other hand, all teams need players who can think for themselves, 'outside the box' so to speak.
Therefore Liverpool need players who can score goals against the boringly determined defensive teams.
We need Strikers who know where the goal is and how to put the ball in it.
We need Midfielders who are not afraid of scoring goals, or of even going forward and passing the ball forward.
We need Defenders who listen to their Goalkeeper, who know where each other are, and are not afraid of pushing up into attack.
We need a Goalkeeper who is competent and who directs his defence. The defence should not be directing the Goalie; HE should be directing them.
Does this type of team ring a bell?
It is the type of team we had in the 60's 70's and 80's.
It is the type of team Arsenal and ManU have.

Cudicini anyone?? He is a bloody good Goalie.
Kirkland needs to learn still. Dudeck(sp?) Would have been better off with Westerveld. At least we won stuff with him!!

ManU have.

At the moment Manu's strikers can't find the back of the net. Their midfield is weak [Both Keane and Giggs are showing their age. Only effective midfielder is Ronaldo]. They have two good defenders and thats the drug lord and Heinze.

We need Midfielders who are not afraid of scoring goals, or of even going forward and passing the ball forward.

Garcia: 3 Goals
Gerrard: 4 Goals
Riise: 2 Goals
Alonso: 1 Goal

What were you saying about our midfield not scoring?

We need Strikers who know where the goal is and how to put the ball in it.

Baros scored 3 in the Premiership and 4 in other competions which gives a total of 7 him being our main goalscorer.

We score 1.8 goals a game, we are ranked third as far is goal scoring is concerned. [1-Arsenal 2-Newcastle]
