Had a quick glance and Feb stands out as a tough run.

not really though, remember manu, spurs and ar$enal could all be playing europe footie at that time too so with us been not in europe we'll be well rested for these games.

bring it on, at last a good opening season run right up to Chelsea away in november.

Agreed.  Not having European football ourselves in February might prove a nice edge when playing those teams who will still, presumably, be in the CL (or better, the Europa League by then).  The same's true in the fall, when we play United, City and Chelsea during the group stages of the CL.

BTW, I got the Sunderland part right for the opening fixture...just didn't predict we'd finally get a home opener. :D

Ah, right.  But of course it was home to Arsenal so it didn't feel like the kind of opening day home banker we've come to see our rivals enjoying. :D

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has questioned the Premier League's decision to schedule the first round of matches just three days after a round of international fixtures.

The Reds kick-off their 2011/12 domestic campaign with a home encounter against Sunderland on 13th August.

And Dalglish has taken umbrage against the games being played on the Saturday, just three days after the likes of England, who take on Holland, are in action.

He told the club's official website: "I would ask why the season is starting on a Saturday when there are international friendlies the midweek before.

"Clubs are doing their best to bring in good players and that usually means they are international players.

"If you are going to have international games then have them. But surely it makes sense to put the league games back a day if it's possible. To me it's common sense."

"There is a free week after the first weekend so I don't understand why we can't start the season on a Sunday to prevent players having to travel back on a Wednesday night in time for a Saturday start.

"If you are going to have international games then have them. But surely it makes sense to put the league games back a day if it's possible. To me it's common sense."

Gerrard

Reds skipper Steven Gerrard, meanwhile, concedes his side face a tough start to the term - with their Sunderland clash followed by a trip to Arsenal - but is hopeful of making a strong start.

He said: "It's a massive test early on. It's nice to have a home game first.

"Hopefully we will have a few new signings in and we can start the season with three points which would give us the confidence to then go and get a good result at Arsenal. That is a difficult place to go and we haven't won there for a while.

"It's important to hit the ground running if you want to compete for the title. You can't afford any slip-ups early on.

"It's a tough first two games but I'm really looking forward to them and I think we can get two positive results."

Agree with those who say Feb is tough, hopefully no European football will stand us in good stead tho and we have a wee advantage over some sides. First game at home, whod have thunk it!! I'm also laughing because Redcafe said the rule is that the champions start the first game at home :D

They have a very kind run in tho!!
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

December looks a great month for us. 6 fixtures and they are all very winnable.

I think the schedule is much more fair this season.  Not this bull sh!t were manure don't play anybody for the first 2 months so they have time to get their stuff together.  They always start slow and the schedule benefits them so much, but this season their tough fixtures are much more spread out.

Not bothered about the Feb schedule, even this early I've gotta a feeling we'll win both our home games and get at least a point at Old :censored:'ford.

It's dropped points in games away to teams we should be beating (eg QPR) that worry me.
