Didnt bomber command bomb cities known to have weapon making and bomb making factories in it - im pretty sure any bombing in ww2 by the british was tactical as opposed to just to bomb german civilians - churchill would never of risked british lives purely to kill civilians .

as for young lads - unfortunatley they are the only people that can go due to lack of manpower in the  .forces at the moment

Bomber Command's express remit was the targeting of the civilian population, in order to "break morale".

It was a terror campaign for the most part and one which Churchill wished to distance himself from after the attackon Dresden.

As for Churchill. He advocated city bombing from day one of the war with Germany.

I wouldn't have Spanish soldiers in a country just because I dislike how they treat women or homosexuals. It's up to them to fight their tirany and injustices. I only accept having soldiers there if it helps to combat global terrorism, and that is the debate I'd like to know: how effective are being those military operations to achieve that goal?

Correct me if I´m wrong Sabre but many, many foreigners gave their lives trying to assist the spanish people against the excesses of your General Franco? If common people dont have morals and decide to fight for justice then the world will happily destroy itself with massive suffering for the victims?

How many soldiers have fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan for the morals they have believed in. And how many soldiers have fought and died for there respective governments. The common soldier is one who dined on beans on toast and had the occasional surprise of having little sausages mixed in with there beans.

The common politician had Caviar on french bread for breakfast. Morals sign up the soldier to fight for what he/she believes in, the governments control what they really are fighting for.

Thus is the way of the world mate.  I´m currently reading "Mussolini's Italy" by RJB Bosworth. Thats an eye opener....

My cousin (like an older brother to me, all I have is an older sister and younger brother) finished his training last year and they are prepping him to go to Afghanistan.  They have been planning on sending him there for a couple months, I was confused at first, but now with this new assault it all makes sense .

He leaves sometime between Aug-Oct.

With the greatest of respect mate, your cousin doesnt have sufficient experience to go out there and be expected to kick off with the taliban who have fought in those mountains and plains for centuries. Tell him to keep his head down and leave the heroism to the drones.

Reason of war.  There was no WorldWar going on.  Not talking to you about this subject, your so Anti-American you make the terrorists seem like neutrals.  (Obviously, an over exaggeration. )

Well you're the one saying they didn't have a reason for doing what they did. They just decided to hijack a few planes and crash them for fun? I'm not anti-anything. But at least I can be open-mined enough to accept that these things simply do do happen on a whim. People are so blind to call these people terrorists and forget the reason why they exist in the first place. Until an understanding of that is grasped by your so called leaders, there will only more and more people willing to kill innocents in the name of their cause, whatever it may be. I know that I for one, if I lived in such a part of the world where armed forces governened by some of the world's super powers left my town in ruines by one of their bombing raids gone "wrong", or had my family blown to peices only for some smug b@stard in the western media to label it "collatoral damage", that I would be pretty p*ssed about it too. Of course, you mix that anger and hate in with extremist views, and you've just created an ememy of which you've no means to defeat, because trying to do so is actually defeating the purpose, thus rendering it pointless and creating more in the proccess. The vicious circle feeding itself. Now that is the very definition of irony and hypocricy all in one, and it's this hypocricy that I sometimes find laughable when I turn on the news and listen to some of your politicians, and indeed even the ones from my own country, which is why I rarely watch the news anyway. Ignorance wears a suit and talks in tongues.

I don't think 9/11 didn't have a point to it, there was reasons behind it and a message to send.  But it also doesn't make it right or justify it (which you never said), but Hitler was also a hero to some.

Stop reading there.  Of course there was a reason behind it, but it didnt have to do with war which is why I said no reason of war.  Im glad you typed out a nice long response that I won't read though for being quick to jump on my post without actually reading it.

Most of the time I agree with you on your views, but your getting into a debate whether I think 9/11 was a pointless attack? When I never said it was, so I'm not ignoring your post of disrespect but I just didn't see the point of saying that with a huge long followup.  Of course it had a point, doesn't make it right or justified.  But it all depends what side your own, Hitler was a hero to some.

no not really.. just thought you made a good point about the whole "not old enough to drink but can join the marines" thing... theres a huge debate about this and yea..... cool....
no disrespect at all and im not saying its your fault or anything but you come across as someone who knows quite a bit about one side of the story but nothing at all about the other.. so you just put all your efforts into discussing what you know which is fair enough...
