In a lot of cases this works (like i say, for a short term solution). Good news about the guy who will fix it though - which is the aim after all.

Cheers red, looks like a cool trick, seen a video too.

NOOOOOO!

DO NOT DO THAT!

It will cook other components, and could potentially f*ck up the flow on the board stopping power getting to the chips. Think about  it: if you turn your console into an oven, what do you think will happen to parts inside it? It may work for a wee bit, but you ultimately run the risk of having to buy a new console outright.

Ah ok

Fortunatley the technician is going to fix it for me though so no problems.

Mmm, I'm slightly sceptical whether your mate will be able to fix it properly but I hopefully for you he will.

I was sceptical at first too JBG, but I'm hopeful he can fix it to me without any problems.

The person at the store (where I usually get my games from) told me that he had others with the same problem and the technician(who works with that person) fixed it without any perfectly and hasn't been reported with any problems. I don't usually trust lebanese technicians, they can f*ck up your console while they are fixing something because they just want you to report back for extra cash, but I'm hopeful that this technician will be trustworthy because it isn't the first time they fixed anything for me.

so Fingers crossed

Oh right, after months and months of pondering I have just ordered my 360 ( the basic one) it should be here in a few days. If this problem was still on going I would cancel it and get a PS3 instead ( already pre-ordered GTA4

Yeah. Some fella even had a live feed being broadcast of him playing it. It looks crazy. The physics on Nico on the NPC's are amazing, and sometimes disturbing in their realism. It looks amazing when Nico gets wasted by an explosion. You could play it for hours just blowing yourself up.

GTAIV is the big one for me. That and Fallout 3 is what I'm really looking forward to this year.

Sadly all the hype and news is in consoles these days with PCs getting less and less of a look in. The PC is very strong in games like the Sims and World of Warcraft but many games now are designed with consoles in mind.

I have a powerful gaming PC but there are fewer and fewer PC exclusive games out there. Sure, the PC always has better graphics than the console versions but I tend to buy the console version for ease of use and gamerpoints.

Still there are one or two amazing PC only games coming out this year, one of which is the sequal to STALKER (actually, its prequal) called Clear Sky,

Follow the link to see an absolutely amazing demonstration of the tech being used. Its like COD4 in graphical appearance but far more advanced.

Ive noticed that. When it came to games the console was the best for getting involved in single player storylines but since they have gone onto become global the pc has been knocked backwards. Call of Duty 4 is another released for the pc unfortunately people feel more comfortable with the console version. As I mentioned earlier on this topic I got my hands on Dawn of War:Soulstorm, which I thought would be big but it has turned out to be a disaster. It would appear consoles are the way forward, cheaper to produce as the market is already there.

ARGH!! 3 RED LIGHTS!!!

We've had it once or twice before but we just switched the power off and it went. This time it's not going away. I'm going to try again later tonight but I think we'll have to get it repaired/replaced.

I just registered the console on xbox.com and this is what it said.

Warranty Status: In Warranty
Warranty Type: Standard
Warranty Start: 6/19/2007 12:16:00 PM
Warranty Expiration: 6/18/2008 7:59:59 PM

So I don't have a huge amount of time left. Anyone know what I should do next? Any help appreciated.
