you know what surprised me at the time but makes more sense now:
How both Ben and Richard were so surprised that Locke died and came back to life. I wouldn't think something like that would come as any kind of shock to them as they have probably seen the island do some just as crazy things, but there is a running line in the show "dead is dead."
It's a good point, Joe. They were clearly wigged out by it and that's very interesting.

POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT
Upon further review, I've decided that I was a bit harsh on Lost this season. The Locke story line has become fascinating again and that part of the finale was awesome. My frustration was with the storyline revolving around Faraday, Jack and the bomb. For me, Faraday dropped off the radar far too long and showed up far too abruptly with the blueprint for averting a disaster that no one knew was coming. There wasn't any time to settle into that story line and buy into it as a big threat that needed everyone's full attention to address. It was more like, all this other sh!t's going on but Faraday's back now and blathering on about The Swan and Jack's buying in...I wonder what they're getting worked up about?

To make matters worse, IMO, the writers did an absolutely ham-handed job of sorting out how people would first oppose and then get on board with Jack's plan. How many abrupt, inexplicable about-faces did we see in those last two episodes when it came to Jack's plan? Sloppy story telling, IMO, with Juliet a real victim, given that she's been one of the more even-keeled and consistent characters on the show. Much as I didn't like how it unfolded, however, they seemed to get there in the end: as far as I can tell, the bomb contributed to making the magnetic field an issue at the Swan so it's in keeping with the season-long idea (a very cool idea, at that) that our characters are establishing the conditions for their later crash on the island by monkeying about in 1977.
One last note on Radzinsky. I missed this but I read somewhere that we've heard his name before. In Season 2, Kelvin explains to Desmond that he used to have a partner in the hatch but that his partner blew his brains out one day and Kelvin had to give him a rushed 107.5-minute burial. Guess what that partner's name was?
