We all know that Liverpool are interested in signing Morientes but is it really necessary to start new threads everytime another worthless tabloid prints something?

Would it not be better for everyone that all Morientes talk goes into one thread so that everyone can read each other's opinion on the matter rather than have discussion fragmented over two, three or four threads?

Topic duplication is a problem on every forum, and at the end of the day, its down to poster's laziness. They just see something on teletext, come straight on here and post it, without checking whether its been posted before. From my experience, every time I hear of something on the radio, see it on tv or on the net or read about it in a newspaper, and I come on here to report it, 9/10 its already been posted. Thats great, as it means the forum is fairly hot with news, but you don't get a gold star and a pat on the back for starting a new topic.

The last decent debate i had on here was about a fortnight ago it was about Neil Mellor says alot that two weeks later the same ol' stuff is churned out just because he scored at the weekend.
The Morientes thing is gettin tiresome now :sleepy:

Well well well, there's been a fair bit of navel gazing since I last was on here hasn't there :D

It's ineviatable that JBG will rightly question peoples motives and reasons for being here and a call back to the core reason for the site's existence (Liverpool FC ) is a positive move and a timely reminder as to the ethos and motivation behind the site .....

However it's ineviatable that as members get to know each other better an increase in banter and chit chat will take place and hopefully a decrease in misunderstandings and personal spats .......

I suppose we all need to take a more active role in posting LFC related threads without the fear of being shouted down or dismissed

Walk On ..... :)

More moderators are needed. We have a fairly large forum and two moderators can not simply look over everything. JBG is the most active moderator and one person will not be able to prevent spam.

As a moderator strict rules should be enforced. No double posts,no double topics. If a member continues to break the rules you have to punish him. Suspensions for days, weeks, months or pernament banning.

Edit]- I am sure there is a way to stop post counts going up when posting in General Chat as this kind of thing has been done on other forums. Remove certain smileys, limit smiley usage. Don't allow members to just post one word or a smiley.

disagree, I have seen a lot of other forums and they don't censor any swaer words and allow a lot disgarceful posts, the Millwall forum that was linked on here a couple of months ago was very poorly moderated.

JBG and supersub do a great job if you ask me.

Thanks, JBG
In particular, I have not as much time being on PC as before since my currrent job description allows me to do more 'field' jobs.

Why not start a thread; due to particularly present huge of thread initiators, except the rubbish ones and or repeating topics, many of them are good threads, your main ideas have mostly been represented, I only have to follow them.

LFC, never did I say that JBG and supersub don't do a good job, what I said is that we need one or two moderators to help the ones we already have. With more moderators things will get done quicker and more effecient.

i think that one of the main reasons for the lack of quality posts in general discussion (and i'm guilty of posting rubbish at times too before anyone reminds me) is that the forum reflects, in many ways, the news thats available. even when people are discussion a recent game the chat is coloured by the background news.

for the last 2 months or so - as we head towards the transfer window - the papers, websites etc have been full of rumour, contradiction and often a fair dose of bull$hit and this gets reflected in peoples posts. all we have is speculation and counter speculation. and we all want whats best for the club and so we all notice the rumours and we report them, its inevitable. and i think its fair to say that most people are getting pretty tired of it. i definitely am.

my guess is that once all this transfer business is done and the investment saga is sorted out we will be able to back onto some positive and interesting discussion.

but anyway, i think there is still plenty of quality going around onn generall discussion. its the proliferation of similar threads which seems to be a problem. maybe we're all tired of having the same discussion over and over again. if anything needs looking at by the mods and site managers its how the threads are structured.

AB, I will give you a job as moderator.

That job will be to moderate yourself.

Do that and believe me, and about 30% of this forum's problems will be sorted out.  :D
